Senior Manager, Public Programs, Special Events and Artist Relations (GRAMMY Museum)

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Senior Manager, Public Programs, Events, and Artist Relations, handles running a wide range of evening programs targeted specifically to the general public, museum members, and the entertainment industry. This position will also oversee and project manage a variety of internal events for the museum.

The Sr. Manager works closely under the direction of the Vice President and side by side with the department Sr. Coordinator to year-round public programming in the Museums Clive Davis Theater. They also work closely with staff in guest services (security, box office, retail), production, digital content, marketing, social, communications, and development for all programs. It is important that this individual maintain positive relationships with all levels of GRAMMY museum staff as well as key external stakeholders and partners.

Sr. Manager, Public Programs and Artist Relations will have the insight and ability to develop strong artist relations including external relationships with record labels, artist management, music, and arts-related venues, as well as lead in the operation of public programs from beginning to end while always embracing the mission of The GRAMMY Museum.
Sr. Manager, Public Programs and Artist Relations is a qualified individual with event/production experience. This person must possess excellent administrative, social, and communication skills.

WHAT YOU’LL DO*

Work with Vice President, Sr. Coordinator, and Technical Director to manage programs and production needs for each program – from booking and scheduling load-in, soundcheck, hospitality needs, artist arrival time and end time, event production, and event flow.

  • Responsible for project managing shows. In constant contact with tour managers to make sure all needs of the show are met, addressed, and resolved; review artist needs related to production, merchandise, ticketing, and rider requirements.
  • Research artist and market data relevant to program bookings and provide information to the Vice President to determine if an offer should be made.
  • Be familiar with program budgets, monitor spending, and make sure events stay within budget.
  • Responsible for settling programs including gathering all invoices, issuing payments, and making sure all vendors are settled accordingly.
  • Under the direction of the Vice President, actively reach out to record labels, managers, agents, and publicists with booking possibilities.
  • Oversee the marketing and ticketing of events, confirm show details and artist requests with marketing and ticketing departments, and, along with Box Office Manager, ensure that shows go on sale and tickets are being sold.
  • Manage ticket holds for each program. Process ticket orders for artist management, record label, press/promotions, house-seat requests, and reserved seating.
  • Manage program logistics including greenroom hospitality as well as managing CD and book signings from start to finish.
  • Represent the Public Programs department at Museum functions, local showcases, and industry events.
  • Network, build, and maintain relationships with record labels, artist managers, publicists, and other potential programming partners.
  • During auction season, help manage auction campaigns associated with artists including making asks, fulfilling orders, and collecting assets needed for each lot to ensure a successful campaign.
  • Along with the Director of Digital Media and programming team, plan & execute live streaming programs & activities on COLLECTION: live and the GRAMMY Museum social media channels.
  • Basic understanding of music clearance and publishing requests (in regards to posting programs on COLLECTION: live).
  • Responsible for project managing all IN-HOUSE special events which could include fundraising benefits or galas, terrace partnerships events, exhibit opening nights, and more.

  • Punctuality required and ability to work overtime as needed
  • Willingness to cooperate in a teamwork environment performing duties other than the ones described in this description as a way of supporting the organization.
  • Bachelors degree; live event production experience preferred.
