Public Administration Analyst, Senior

ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent will oversee various operations in the Radiology Office of Research Affairs (ORA) as well as provide faculty administrative support for the Vice Chair for Research.As part of Radiology ORA functions, s/he will oversee the departmental Exploratory Research Grant Program and the Radiology Faculty Research Seminar series and a new departmental publication venue, including identify and meet with faculty, provide topics for manuscript submissions, copy edit all manuscripts, and serve as Departmental liaison to the publisher.The incumbent will also be responsible for developing written and online content highlighting Departmental research activities and achievements in Radiological Sciences and oversee the functions of the department Basic Science Section.Under the direction of the Vice Chair of Research, s/he will manage various aspects of the faculty mentoring program.

S/He will also complete tasks for Radiology Imaging Research Services and oversee various special projects.

The incumbent will be responsible for regularly collating information on department research events and distributing department-wide.QualificationsSkills, Talents and experience:+ Demonstrated administrative background with at least five years of prior experience.+ Requires the ability to interact professionally with participants, investigators, coordinators, governmental agencies, referring physicians in a diplomatic and compassionate manner by telephone, in person, and written correspondence+ Must be able to work closely and effectively with project personnel under a high level of stress.+ Working knowledge of patient-related policies and procedures, as well as thorough understanding of the University system, its services and procedures.+ Must possess excellent organizational skills necessary to work effectively within a team, to manage numerous and sometimes complicated tasks, to address simultaneous demands, and to make complex arrangements+ Knowledge and thorough understanding of GCP and ICH guidelines.+ Must have an understanding of Radiology CPT codes and other procedural terminology+ Excellent interpersonal skills (both by telephone and in-person) to interact effectively and efficiently with individuals of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds and at all levels of the organization in order to obtain and convey information clearly, accurately and courteously.+ Experience in the research arena.+ Demonstrated skill in maintaining a courteous and calm demeanor and professional appearance in a continuously changing environment with frequent interruptions and distractions.+ Skills in assisting others with appropriate information or referral.+ Ability to problem solve with minimal supervision to no supervision.+ Ability to judge when, and to whom, a particular request or situation should be referred.+ Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy while multi-tasking+ Ability to work closely and effectively with a variety of project personnel under frequent deadlines with competing priorities.+ Ability to work as part of a team and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships+ Ability to handle confidential material frequently while protecting its strict confidentiality.+ Extensive experience and solid working knowledge of Windows-based software programs (Microsoft Office 2010 and higher, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Access)+ Excellent writing skills to generate written materials for paper or online publication as well as edit correspondence correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.+ Ability to complete research correspondence, manuscripts, reports and other assigned writing tasks with speed and accuracy+ Ability to compose professional level documents and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio+ Ability to read and understand complex correspondence and requests for information in order to identify action items and follow up independently+ Organizational skills necessary to maintain various filing systems.+ Bachelor’s (BA or BS) degree or higher preferredUCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
