In this vital role you will responsible for developing Amgen policy positions to assist the field-based lobbyists. Specific accountabilities include:Serving as in-house resource on all State Government Affairs policy issuesProviding guidance to lobbyists with respect to specific legislation, including Amgen and industry positionsAnalyzing and tracking state legislation affecting Amgen on a national basis, and providing regular summaries of important trendsProviding the State Government Affairs team with information in concise condensed form for internal and external use (talking points, charts, suggested legislative language, etc)Serving as a liaison to internal Amgen partners, including Federal and International Government Affairs & Policy, Business units, Legal, Corporate Affairs, and EnvironmentalActively representing Amgen within relevant national trade associationsLocation: Washington, DC or Sacramento, CA or West USTravel: Up to 10% travelReports to: Executive Director of State Government AffairsWinWhat we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The strategic professional we seek is a collaborative partner with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree and 4 years of government affairs and/or state policy experienceOrMasters degree and 7 years of government affairs and/or state policy experienceOrBachelors degree and 9 years of government affairs and/or state policy experiencePreferred Qualifications:Juris Doctor or Master’s DegreeComprehensive knowledge of the pharma/biopharmaceutical/healthcare industry, including major companies, payers, markets, competitive environment, and industry and health care trends.5+ years of experience in pharma/biopharmaceutical state government affairs; demonstrated knowledge of SGA issues including: prescription drug pricing; Medicaid; reimbursement; environment; biosimilars; health care reform and state regulated markets. Experience in state taxation issuesStrong verbal and written communications skills, including ability to facilitate trust and develop successful relationships with diverse individuals/groups.
