Regional Director, West Region
– Surgical Structural Heart

As a key member of the sales leadership team, the Regional Sales Director (RD) West is responsible for the Surgical Structural Heart business in the West Region which includes California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
The Region Director must live in the defined territory. This role drives the achievement of sales and profit objectives.
This includes leading the sales and clinical teams, providing day to day direction, as well as partnering across business units when necessary.
Responsibilities:
Serves as a change agent and provides leadership to create a high trust culture and environment.
Responsible for coordinating and executing specific objectives of the Sales Strategy.
Establishes sales targets, manages budget, and inventory.
Talent management responsibilities include: hiring, retaining and developing talent, developing succession plans and proactively managing performance. Collaborates with functional departments of the company, specifically but not limited to Operations, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Affairs. Plan and prepares forecasts by account, product and therapy for the given region as well as propose expenses for meetings and/or customer activities. Proactively facilitates the flow of information from the field into Sales Operations, Marketing and on occasion into RD & Business Development. Collaborates with Marketing and Professional Education to further develop value added strategies, tools, programs and services. Maintain current knowledge of competitive business strategies and product pipeline, healthcare economics, regulatory and legislative activities and incorporate into regional sales plans and strategies. Manage and adhere to T&E expense budget, inventory management, and other variable expenses. Responsible for pricing strategy, negotiations, and contract renewals.
Expected field based travel of 75% with weekend responsibilities.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree is required, MBA preferred. A minimum of eight (8) years related sales experience within the medical device industry is required. A minimum of two (2) years management or related experience is required.
Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader who has successfully managed the sale of clinically complex and new product launches in the cardiovascular /medical device space. Must have demonstrated skills in the following areas: leadership, coaching and counseling, budgeting, negotiating, selling and strategic planning. Experience implementing change while demonstrating the ability to be open and influenced by differing ideas and points of view is critical.
Must be able to make difficult decisions around people, process and products as it relates to our business. Strong business and financial acumen is critical for success. Ability to provide strategic input to Marketing, Sales, R&D, Operations, etc.
Must possess a thorough working knowledge of heart valve products/therapies and have an extensive understanding of all their applications. Must have strong creative, strategic, analytical and financial skills with a demonstrated ability to understand competition and industry trends. Ability to foster and develop effective internal and external business relationships at all levels.
