Project Engineer – Cloud and Infrastructure

Ascend Technologies is currently seeking a Cloud and Infrastructure Project Engineer to provide professional services support for our clients. This role will help design, implement, and transition to support project-based initiatives for clients, including existing infrastructure and deployment of new technology for Azure, and Microsoft365 environments, as well as Veeam, Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, virtualization, and storage environments. This role will have a focus on cloud technologies.
Summary of Required Qualifications:
Demonstrate an understanding of technology as it pertains to infrastructure and applications and be able to provide design recommendations, perform infrastructure upgrades, deploy new infrastructure solutions, and troubleshoot issues. Individuals must be able to discuss issues with the managed services clients and be able to effectively apply technical knowledge to a client situation. Individuals will be contributing to client satisfaction by providing clients with timely and responsive services and work products.
Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
- Best practice implementation, deployment, and upgrade of client’s cloud infrastructure, including response to any escalations from the monitoring team as an escalation point to help analyze and resolve incidents for customers infrastructure
- Interact with clients and lead discussions to identify IT issues, troubleshoot expediently, and follow up on issues via e-mail, ticketing system, and phone calls. Communicate technical issues and solutions with customers
- Install, configure, and administer Azure, O365, and Veeam, and other cloud-based systems to improve client’s infrastructure
- Configuration and tuning of cloud-based tools, managing cost, security, and compliance for the client’s environments
- Experience with Terraform deployment and support
- Create and maintain updated documentation for each client’s environment
- Development of automated solutions to monitor and support cloud-based infrastructure
- Experience working with cloud networking (virtual networks, peering, site-to-site, VPN) and cloud end user technologies (Azure Windows Virtual Desktop, Intune, and Autopilot)
Your Credentials:
- 5+ years’ work experience in a similar role
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must have experience designing and supporting Azure environments
- Experience with other public cloud environments, like AWS, and virtualization technologies is a plus
- Azure certification preferred
