Responsibilities We are seeking a mission-focused Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles County, CA supporting our DOD customers as part of Arcfield’s Mission Maintenance Future Requirements (MMFR) Program. Arcfield’s MMFR provides support services and solutions within the SkyRange Program for ballistic and hypersonic test missions at DoD, NASA, and other agency ranges around the world including broad ocean areas. We deliver mission planning, logistics, network and systems engineering, telemetry, data and voice communications, and cybersecurity support. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with a team responsible for deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and integrating range instrumentation systems to support our Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Army and Navy customers and meet mission objectives. We have a strong preference for someone experienced and proficient 3D modeling using CAD tools such as Autocad™. The individual must be organized, attentive to details, and have the ability to complete tasks quickly and correctly. Additional job functions include: * Support local and off-site testing operations, including configure, operate, maintain and test UAV-based equipment used to acquire, process and display flight-test data both in real-time and post-mission to support flight-testing. * Responsible for providing guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems onboard UAV platforms, and to investigate, evaluate and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems. * Analyzes assigned tasks to provide estimates of manpower and material required to complete. * Supervises and coordinates engineering technicians in the fabrication and installation of complex mechanical and related electronic equipment and systems * Evaluates operational systems and designs modification to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements. * Oversee the environmental testing of developmental hardware (proof, leak, vibration, shock, thermal, etc.) * Provides technical guidance to personnel involved with producing design fabrication drawings. * Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics) * Traveling to support various types of UAV and Hypsersonics flight testing * Regularly report status of projects to management and customers. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree and 5-7 years of directly related experience or 3-5 years with Master’s * Experience that demonstrates proficiency in design for manufacturing assembly * Experience that demonstrates profiency producing drawings using MS Visio and/or CAD tools such as Autocad * A current active Secret security clearance * Experience in environmental testing of developmental hardware (proof, leak, vibration, shock, thermal, etc.)
