Lead Electrical Engineer

We are currently seeking Lead Electrical Engineer’s, with a specialization in Electrical Arrangement or Protection & Control for the Los Angeles area (Flexible Work Arrangement – Office or Remote Work). Responsibilities:

  • Carry out with the assigned team, all engineering and design works of electrical power Transmission and Distribution
  • Prepare substation plan and profile view, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, cable trench, cable trays, conduit layout and detail installation drawings.
  • Prepare schematic and wiring diagrams, protection and control schemes, and layout drawings
  • Assigns and outlines work, advises on technical problems, and reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy
  • Lead discipline teams to complete projects on time, on budget and to the high level of quality expected
  • Develops, approves, and co-ordinates work schedules for discipline to ensure that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met
  • Requires effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and associates for the purpose of discussing design problems, explaining design features and specifications, and other project control criteria
  • Engage Discipline Senior Engineers as required and mentoring junior engineers
  • Recommend to the Discipline manager, the need to engage outside engineering consultants/specialists, as required; direct and remain responsible for the project related work of these consultants
  • Advise the Discipline manager on project staffing requirements
  • Review and accept project man-hour estimate for required activities and controls work to meet these estimates; plan and schedule project work of the discipline to meet project schedules, monitor progress and man-hours used, and report regularly to the Project engineer and Discipline manager on project status
  • Establishes and maintains client contacts to seek or provide technical information related to the immediate project
  • Analyses problems, organizes investigations, and determines specific design criteria
  • Makes commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates, resources and staff required to meet objectives
  • Is required to have knowledge of related disciplines/fields of engineering. Be comfortable operating within a multi-discipline design team

Requirements:

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer
  • 8+ years of working experience in Electrical Engineering, preferably in an engineering consulting firm
  • Have a strong background in the design and specification of high voltage substations (from 44 kV to 500 kV) with a heavy emphasis in Electrical Arrangement or Protection and Control.
  • Have experience in the study, technical knowledge, and design expertise of electrical distribution systems and renewable projects for a broad range of industries.
  • Experience in Power Station SCADA, RTU’s and Substation LAN & Automation is considered an asset.
  • Have experience in preparing technical specification of the electrical equipment, evaluation of proposals, and will be able to review vendor drawings.
  • You will have exceptional communication skills (client relations, team project communications, and proposal and report development).
  • Preferably has previous experience in Transmission and distribution, power generation, consulting engineering fields and renewables/sustainable industries.
