Overview & Responsibilities:

PlutoTV is looking for a Lead Data Architect to define, refine and operate our large scale analytics processes.

PlutoTV is a free ad-supported over-the-top television service with over 100 linear channels and 1000s of VOD movies and TV shows.

The ideal candidate will have developed database schemas and services to collect and process billions of data elements every day, 24/7/365, and know how to build, orchestrate and manage highly-performing data pipelines and schemas

Responsibilities:

This is a critical role with a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Collaborating cross-functionally to perform data discovery and develop various objectives for data architecture and strategy
  • Leading data modeling and data warehouse analysis, architecture, design, and development, which includes but is not limited to, setting up data ingestion pipelines, data/dimensional modeling including star/snowflake schemas, and ETL/ELT processes
  • Developing data strategies that define how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed
  • Collaborating with new and existing data vendors to understand data sourcing strategy, identify and collect required data, and more
  • Providing guidance on dimensional modeling and database design standard methodologies
  • Data wrangling of heterogeneous data and explore and discover new insights
  • Lead and support mappings of data sources, transformations, and data movement
  • Implement procedures in place to validate data to ensure that data integrity and quality standards are met
  • Provides mentorship to support team members

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years designing large-scale data architectures
  • 2+ years of experience with Snowflake
  • 7+ years writing and executing advanced SQL queries
  • 3+ years configuring multi-staged jobs/DAGs in relevant orchestration engines such as Airflow
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with object-oriented programming and distributed computing/parallelization in languages such as Python/PySpark, JavaScript or Scala
  • Experience developing data models from technical and functional requirements including:crafting logical and physical data models for current and proposed states; turning application designs into data model specifications; understanding data storage requirements and estimating database growth; designing OLAP and reporting tool data model requirements; creating intuitive data models in business end user terminology; constructing database normalization; understanding of 1NF to 5NF; utilizing data modeling tools to record, update, reverse engineer and generate DDL.

Additional Qualifications:

  • 3+ years with highly-performing data pipes such as Kafka, or Kinesis
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision making
  • Good interpersonal skills, written and verbal
  • Strong technical writer with experience creating and maintaining informative content and documentation using software such as LaTeX or alternatives
  • Experience serving in a data modeling and data architect role for enterprise data modeling across multi-domain, multi-subject areas using Inmon and/or Kimball methodologies
