Boeing Airframe Customer Support Engineering, located in sunny Southern California, is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineering Consultant to join our team in Seal Beach, CA and make an immediate impact on both urgent and long-term fleet support.

Boeing Customer Support operates on a 24/7/365 basis. Some non-standard shifts (e.g. night time, weekend) are available to interested candidates.
All positions require a willingness to work flexible schedules and shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed to support our fleet.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite at our Seal Beach location.
Position Responsibilities:
- Review and approve engineering data that supports airframe repairs and service bulletins for Boeing aircraft.
- Plans, leads, and performs structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools, to support drawing release, establishes maintenance/inspection programs, and supports the Manufacturing Review Board process.
- Reviews and approves structural analysis, provides expertise to respond to customer inquiries, develops service bulletins, and investigates failures to maintain continued airworthiness/mission capability. Responds to emergent requests for safety of flight decisions.
- Account for customer impact of solutions and provide temporary repair options when a permanent repair is not feasible.
- Reviews and approves structural analyses, repair data, and service documents for compliance with applicable FAA Federal Aviation Regulations.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor degree from an accredited course of study in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- 9+ years’ of experience in the following:
- Production analysis methods, structural repair, overhaul, nondestructive inspection, corrosion control, and composite materials.
- FAA certification processes and guidance for transport category aircraft production, repairs, and alterations.
- Structural analysis methods and repair principles (e.g., fatigue and corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques, damage tolerance methods used in maintenance programs).
- Willingness to support a 24/7 on-call rotation schedule and the ability to work variable shifts, including weekends or overtime.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Current FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or ODA Engineering Unit Member (E-UM) with authorizations in Part 25 Structures: Major Alteration / Major Repair, Static, Fatigue, and Damage Tolerance desired.
- Advanced level knowledge of FAA Part 25 Subpart C Structure Airworthiness Standards required.
- Boeing 7-Series and/or McDonnell Douglas Aircraft experience desired.
- Candidates possessing experience using Boeing Commercial Airplane structural analysis methods and tools are strongly desired.
- Master of Science in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace engineering preferred.
- Experience with airframe composite materials, landing gear, propulsion systems structure is a plus.
- Experience with Nastran / Patran.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Salary:
$144,500 – $194,350
