POSITION SUMMARY:

The Systems Analyst provides DCS, SCADA, PLC, and HMI automation technical support for the G&P Southwest Region Oil & Gas Gathering, Natural Gas Processing and NGL Fractionation plants. The individual is responsible for programming and maintaining control logic, HMI, alarms, and all levels of control engineering applications. The role supports troubleshooting and improvement requests from Operations and interfaces with Engineering, Instrumentation, Measurement, Environmental, and Process Safety teams to improve control system reliability and build and optimize plant assets

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Configures regulatory and complex control logic to meet operational and economic objectives
  • Creates/Revises Cause and Effect diagrams and configures control system interlock logic
  • Applies HMI best practices to control system graphics
  • Commissions projects, including new control system hardware and I/O
  • Participates in alarm management improvement efforts in data gathering and alarm rationalization
  • Manages data reporting through control system historian and PI interfaces, PI Vision displays
  • Builds communication interfaces to Vapor Recovery, Burner Management, Compressor Control, and Motor Control systems
  • Understands process hazard lifecycle and associated functional safety and SIS applications
  • Reads and assists in maintaining P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical drawings
  • Creates, maintains controls documentation such as control narratives and Cause and Effects
  • Follows Management of Change guidelines in control change workflow
  • Performs troubleshooting and incident investigations
  • Supports a wide range of communications protocols including Modbus, OPC, DeviceNet, and EtherNet IP
  • Works in close collaboration with the OT Department in supporting and maintaining network system availability, reliability, and security.
  • Works Monday-Friday schedule with possible extended hours to support 24/7 operation, including on call rotation covering nights/weekends/holidays

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • 2-5 years industry experience in Process Automation and Control, SCADA, I&E, or process engineering

Specialized Skills

  • HMI Design and Development – Wonderware
  • Programming PLC controllers – (Emerson/Allen Bradley)
  • ROC800 series programming

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Demands:

This position requires sitting and working at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. This position will also require traveling to field locations to interact with field staff and management as needed and may require overnight stays.

Travel Expectations:

Role is based at the Carthage Plant – Field Support – up to 20%

Work Environment:

Working in an office or control room environment. Frequent field visits inside compression, production & processing facilities to install and troubleshoot control equipment and related field devices.

Materials and Equipment Used:

The materials and equipment used on a regular basis will be a laptop computer, computer workstations and cellular phone.
