Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate Structure and Payload Design Engineer located in El Segundo, CA.

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development/maintenance of and modification of spacecraft structures/payload systems and component design.

Position Responsibilities Include:Assist with creating documentation of structural, payload and bus system integration based on design requirements to facilitate/increase productivity throughout the lifecycle of the vehicle.

Interprets engineering documentation using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools (PTC Creo, CreoView, Creo-Simulate), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD& T ASME Y14.5M) standards and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.Assist with conducting vehicle appendage deployment tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

Engineering authority for vehicle integration, vehicle test and launch site operation.Assist with timely dispositions and closure of vehicle integration and structure business unit related process anomalies.

Be a member of material review board.Participate in all manufacturing assembly operations with focus on customer satisfaction.

Actively support design for manufacturing, integration reviews and process improvements by reviewing previous designs/lessons learned, regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and/or contracts in order to support proposals, studies, and/or produce higher quality and more efficient detail designs and integration.Supports preliminary design layouts, sketches, preliminary strength analysis to support trade studies, develop structural technology, testing requirements, materials, processes, and tools, define interfaces.Support the evaluation and resolution of production and service issues.Assist with the implementation of engineering changes to correct/improve engineering and provide feedback to respective design activities, specifically with the intent to ovoid recurring problems.

Support management of the engineering project by providing status and following the project plan.Assist in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts in order to grow the business.

Tasks include: work statement estimates (e.G., cost, schedule, task breakdown) and marketing support.Assist in developing tools, techniques and products in response to gaps in technology road maps, and technology needs.Assist with the creation of plans, schedules, and procedures for tests of structural components and systems appendages.Assist supporting testing (e.G.

environmental simulations, functional and qualification tests).Actively seeks learning opportunities, participates in training, and studies Boeing processes and procedures to increase personal knowledge and understanding of project management.Works under close supervision.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

An interim and/or final U.S.

Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.1+ years of experience with Platform Structures or Subsystems design, integration and/or analysis experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):1+ years of experience developing 3D CAD models and/or drawings.Experience working as a Liaison Engineer.

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.

Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.

Master).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
