Responsible for managing architect and specifying engineer relationships; lead generation; and driving increased specification activity and new customer growth within the states east of the Mississippi.
Responsibilities: Increase specification activity and overall sales growth in assigned territory in accordance with assigned goals.
Maintain existing customer relationships and developing new customer relationships through face to face visits, customer service efforts and phone and e-mail conversations.
Use bid search engine tools (ie.
CMD/Reed) to actively monitor specifications and to generate sales leads to the AWIP sales team.
Visit architectural and engineering firms to support sales and customer service activities.
Ensure excellence and professionalism in customer interactions.
Be a subject matter expert on all products that AWIP manufactures and distributes.
Prepare and deliver product presentations to contractors, architects and engineers.
Plan, prioritize and organize travel to different areas of the assigned territory to facilitate sales and customer service.
Prepare reports as directed by the Product, Marketing & Business Development Manager.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Hours of work are generally Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm or as required to meet appointments and deadlines.
Hours of work will often need to be adjusted to accommodate customer requirements and time zone differences.
Work Environment: This position operates from both a professional office environment and a home office environment.
Meetings with customers will take place in offices, on construction jobsites and in public environments such as coffee shops and restaurants.
Electronic communication will take place on a company provided laptop via e-mail and other internet forms of communication.
Primary phone contact will be made by company provided mobile phone.
Frequent travel required (up to 75%).
Basic Qualifications: Education: Minimum of Bachelors Degree or equivalent sale/industry experience.
Experience in the promotion of construction or architectural product a plus.
Professional and polished presentation skills.
Experience in reading construction drawings and specifications a plus.
Demonstrated aptitude will be considered in lieu of experience.
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Additional Qualifications: Must possess credit worthiness and a major credit card with a sufficient limit in order to maintain monthly travel expenses until reimbursed by the company.
Physical Requirements: Visual acuity and ability to discern color and texture.
Ability to use a computer, keyboard, and presentation media effectively.
Ability to stand, sit, walk, and reach with arms and hands.
Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds.
Ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, employees, and other individuals.
Ability to function effectively with moderate to high levels of stress in a demanding and dynamic environment.
Employee must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time and consistently produce organized thoughts and execute sound judgment.
Frequent travel by automobile, airplane, and other modes of public transportation are required.
