What You Will Do: This role is responsible for working with various stakeholders to ensure Abbott has web conferencing, audio conferencing, and streaming solutions that meet the needs of a global workforce.
The Conferencing & Streaming architect is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies and working with management, vendors, and technical specialists across functional disciplines.
This individual participates in the development of the Abbott infrastructure and understands the impact and needs of the solutions.
This architect supports the application and technical specialists in the multi-system architecture and has a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs for the solutions involved and the impact upon each other.
Core Job Responsibilities: Design large scale audio and web conferencing solutions for use with Abbott’s global workforce.
Architect and design streaming solutions for use with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with various teams to research new technologies and make recommendations to management on these new technologies.
Facilitate the purchase and introduction of new technologies.
Communicates and educates the technical and business communities on current architectures, technologies, and industry trends.
Perform technical oversight of implementation projects to assure alignment with architecture and technology standards.
Collaborates with the various technical and business teams in solution design and implementation.
Works closely with product vendors ensuring strategic and architectural fit, and ability of product to scale to meet Abbott requirements.
Works on projects and support that could impact over 100,000 Abbott Employees.
Lead teams consisting of other functional groups within the Abbott IT organization to establish technical strategies and the tactical plans to be positioned for the current and future needs of the business.
Evaluates conferencing and streaming needs across multiple environments and use cases.
Provide strategic consultancy support to clients, and other technical architects in all aspects of enabling technologies to meet business needs.
Provides expertise on Conferencing and Streaming architecture design or improvement.
Considers the performance impact of the architecture.
Work with operational teams to ensure quality and performance standards are consistently met through technology solutions, operational processes, and training/education of users.
Provide leadership during troubleshooting of major issues with conferencing and streaming solutions.
Work with leadership to provide metrics to support the ongoing management of these solutions.
Education and Experience you will bring : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or similar degree required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
Minimum 10 years of IT Demonstrated ability to creatively approach business problems and establish course of action Experience working in matrix global organization where success requires broad orchestration of resources and services Experience working in an FDA-regulated business is preferred Required Skills/Abilities : Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management.
Experience managing the operation of Conferencing tools such as WebEx, and MS Teams Experience managing Streaming platforms and events including white glove events support Experience in Broadcast technologies such as MediaPlatform products Webcaster and Primetime Experience in large global environment supporting 1,500 sites Understanding of video transmission protocols and troubleshooting Vendor Management skills Preferred: Understanding of Microsoft Live Events, WebEx events, and/or Media Platform Experience with MediaPlatform, including in-depth understanding of MediaPlatform products.
Video-on-demand publication Networking
– Understanding of networking concepts, architectures, and protocols.
Ability to identify issues related to routing, firewalls, zscaler, etc.
In-depth knowledge of video delivery protocols such as RTMP(x) and HTML5.
Experience with peering technologies such as Hive and Kollective.
