Visual Designer II – VALORANT

Riot Visual Designers seek to craft the best player experiences through their knowledge of systemic design, graphic design, interactivity, layout, typography, color theory and illustration.

Designers collaborate with cross disciplinary teams and act as both artistic and design problem solvers.

They understand players and ask questions when solving for an interface or communication challenge.

VALORANT is Riot’s take on a character-based tactical shooter.

As a Visual Design Artist II on VALORANT, you will develop and execute visuals to support new content and products, build new brands and expand on existing ones, develop style guides and improve upon our existing design work in and around the game.

We are looking for someone with a strong passion for contemporary design, that aspires to push the cutting edge of our IP with content that evokes Fresh Style With Attitude.

You will be working with a team of artists, illustrators, and 3rd party vendors, to craft a vision for mini-content drops that are contextual within our established style, with opportunities to introduce fresh ideas.

Responsibilities Work collaboratively, across multiple teams to execute content based on the established creative vision; Create visually balanced and well designed content that shows a strong grasp of legibility, hierarchy, platform and player needs; Image Compositing, working with illustration and design assets to create finalized assets.

Custom Image Creation, digital illustrations, logos and branding, icon development; Extend themes throughout the project by establishing style guides and design conventions for consistency; Understand concepts and process behind the guides, but also know when to break the rules; Able to identify and solve issues impacting the quality of work; Experiment with styles; Design beyond the latest trends; Maintain the quality bar for your discipline; Review your work and prioritize changes; Understand flexible and scalable layouts; Work with a wide range of styles; Innovate off existing assets; Possess a growth mindset, seeking mentorship from the discipline artists and community Required Qualifications Strong grasp of design fundamentals (layout, composition, grids, typography, etc.); Portfolio that demonstrates visual taste of contemporary graphic design and strong artistic style; Hands on professional experience as a Visual Designer or User Interface artist working with others; Solid knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.

Desired Qualifications Experience contributing to a feature, game, product launch, or entertainment property through the craft of visual communication design; Experience in a secondary area such as motion graphics, illustration, animation, or modeling is a plus.

Bonus Qualifications Knowledge of the game development pipeline including optimization, localization, implementation; Familiarity with Unity, Unreal, or any relevant game engine.
