Lead Data Visualization Developer

Acumen supports the work of the Department of Justice (DOJ) in their ongoing investigations into healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA), substantiating allegations, and generating leads for new investigations.

The Lead Data Visualization Developer will work with the project team and the client to develop interactive visualizations and maintain a suite of existing visualizations to present analysis results in a meaningful way, highlight key findings and patterns in the data, and support attorney workflows.

For example, visualizations depict financial and contractual relationships between providers, flag providers with outlier utilization and aberrant behavior compared to peers, and compare costs for various services across states and judicial districts.Responsibilities:Develop interactive data visualizations to facilitate navigation of data and uncover insights.

The visualizations will include elements such as interactive search, sortable tables, maps, graphs, etc.Implement updates to existing visualizations to incorporate additional information or functionality.Conduct visualization walkthroughs and refine visualizations in response to internal and client feedback.Work with the project team and the client to develop visualization requirements and workflows and design mockups and prototypes.Collaborate with the project team to create data models for datasets to be produced by the project team for visualizations.Set up programs to convert data into JSON or other format needed for visualizations.Import data for visualizations as data updates are made available by the project team and produce visualization builds that can be delivered to the client.Develop test suite and perform QA to test visualization functionality and ensure that requirements are met and edge cases are handled.Document visualization code, data, and features.Use strong debugging and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues that may arise.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics or related field with a quantitative emphasis, or equivalent relevant experience.Knowledge of Web development using HTML/CSS/JavaScript.3 years of working experience developing data visualizations using D3.js or other visualization libraries.Industry experience strongly preferred.Client and / or cross team work experience.Project lead or management skills with coordination experience is a plus.Experience with Node.jsBasic understanding of data analysis methods and results.Ability to transform data to JSON or other format needed for visualization.Experience working with Git or other version control system.Strong critical thinking skills.Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Clear oral and written communication skills.Please submit a cover letter and resume to be considered for this position.
