Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as software architectural patterns, continuous integration and continuous deployment, web frameworks, implementation of software standards, with expertise in software engineering, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers. The Engineering Application Department is part of the Information Systems and Cyber Division. The department performs development and research focused on advanced visualizations, immersive technologies, web technologies, and software delivery for our government and civil customers. The Advanced Visualization and Simulation team is focused on supporting our customers in 3D visualizations, full stack development, application modernization efforts, and middleware development. This position is a hybrid work model, offering partial remote, with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA. What You’ll Be Doing Support a wide variety of Civil Systems Group and Space Systems Command ground system customers through software development Provide technical leadership for simulation development support, application architecture, and modernization application efforts Implementation of software standards and processes on our technical development teams Work with Immersive Tech. and Animation section to develop visualization strategy that includes a scalable design system Provide guidance for professional growth of section staff through formal performance reviews and informal feedback and mentoring sessions Coordinate overall preparation and presentation of technical reports, briefings, and analyses prepared by section staff Work closely with staff and program offices to efficiently prioritize and utilize resources to provide informed recommendations on spacecraft flight software acceptability and risks Recruit, hire, and retain staff Work with subject matter experts in modeling and simulation analysis Provide engineering assistance in the use, support, and training for Advanced Visualization & Simulation tools, resources, facilities, and applications Identify, evaluate, and recommend opportunities for new capabilities and research Work closely with customers to coordinate tasking, facilitate communication, report progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure customer expectations are met Plan and direct activities related to employee career path development Coordinate overall preparation and presentation of technical reports, briefings, and analyses prepared by section Complete annual performance reviews of direct reports Interface with a wide variety of Engineering and Technology Group (ETG), launch, satellite, and other program office customers Synergize with other organizations and corporate initiatives to optimize engineering talent usage across organizations What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: B.S. in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline. Demonstrated proficiency in object-oriented programming languages and web frameworks. Proficiency in C++, JAVA, Python, and REACT is highly desirable. Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment best practices Demonstrated common knowledge of Linux OS Agility to quickly learn new programming languages Ability to work both independently, and cooperatively within a team Excellent written and verbal communications skills. The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a clearance. How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: Project leadership experience is strongly preferred Implemented software standards and/or processes on a development team Demonstrated self-motivation and willingness to take initiative strongly preferred Ability to work both independently, as a team leader, and cooperatively within a team is strongly preferred Work experience with a wide variety of Aerospace Corporation customers, programs, and engineering divisions is strongly preferred Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers and staff is strongly preferred.
