The primary purpose of this position is to provide on-site safety and crisis management support to the staff and youth in our Residential programs, which impact the health, safety and treatment of campus residents. The Program Support Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Safety and Program Support.

Schedule:
Sunday-Thursday 6:00PM – 2:30AM


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the compliance of campus programs by implementing policies and procedures for crisis intervention, ensuring Title 22 compliance, ensuring all documentation is completed and accurate (reports, investigations, special incident reports, internal incident reports, etc.).
  • Ensures the health and safety of all residents, staff and visitors is maintained.
  • Assists with supervision of residents as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that program support services are properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Ensures that department personnel, residents, visitors, etc., follow established policies and procedures, to include safety rules and regulations, at all times.
  • Ensures that residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage a complaint, are followed by all department personnel.
  • Utilizes Collaborative Problem Solving in de-escalating and providing behavior support to residents.
  • Conducts behavior screenings for new intakes and collaborates with milieu and clinical staff in implementing behavior interventions that meet the residents’ needs.
  • Conducts Professional Assault Crisis Trainings (Pro-ACT) and refresher trainings.
  • Implements Pro-ACT with residents in response to crisis.
  • Leads Milieu Counselors in implementing Pro-ACT and Collaborative Problem Solving techniques with residents
  • Performs Pro-ACT debriefings with staff after serious incidents.
  • Conducts campus perimeter checks or safety.
  • Assists program staff in engaging youth who are attempting to run away and encouraging them to remain in the facility.
  • Coordinates with Security and program staff in contacting law enforcement or other emergency response entities as necessary.
  • Conducts safety checks when campus residents return from being runaway or on community pass.
  • Enters Incident Reports into I-track, as necessary.
  • Supports residential program management with facilitating behavior management and crisis response trainings.
  • Supports residential programs with on-boarding and training new staff.
  • Perform facility manager duties in absence of a manager.
  • Ensure that staff follows the established policies and procedures, monitoring and supervision procedures and safety regulations as designated by program design, and as communicated to placement and licensing agencies.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain current Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT) trainer certification, or be willing to obtain and maintain certification upon hire.
  • Minimum of two years successful experience in a youth residential setting or youth with acute need in a home or community setting.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
