Position Overview

Romeo Power Technology is looking for a highly motivated and proactive Product Support Technician to join our growing team in the Los Angeles, CA area.

This is a hands-on position with a high level of responsibility for the successful Product Support of leading-edge energy storage solutions in the rapidly growing Commercial Electric Vehicle market.

This person will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and use their knowledge and experience working with wiring, electronics and control systems to contribute directly to the diagnosis, repairs, and service of battery modules, battery packs, electronic assemblies, harnesses, PCBA’s, and other components.

The environment is fast-paced and requires the application of critical thinking in demanding situations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and diagnostic tests on battery modules, battery packs, electronic assemblies, harnesses, PCBA’s, and components
  • Perform mechanical repairs, replacements, and leak testing on battery modules and packs
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair Return Material Authorization (RMA) units as required to meet design specifications
  • Coordinate with Systems Engineering and other departments for additional analysis and support as needed
  • Proactively identify problems and support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) analysis to implement robust solutions
  • Provide technical assistance and resolution when issues are encountered throughout the lifecycle of prototype and production parts
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results
  • Work efficiently without compromising quality or established procedures
  • Adhere to contractual lead times for diagnosis and repairs, and communicate estimated timelines to those impacted
  • Commit to compliance with all safety standard and regulations at all times
  • Support troubleshoot of all problems effectively to maintain quality, lasting products
  • Maintain all equipment in excellent working order in a clean and organized work environment
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Travel may be required (<40%)

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, degree in electrical engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of at least one of the following trades:
    • Consumer electronics, automotive or aerospace mechanical assembly
  • Electrical system integration experience using knowledge of,
    • wire harness design / 3D routing,
    • digital and analog circuit design and PCB layout
    • firmware development
    • power electronics integration
    • high voltage DC systems
  • Working knowledge of Li-ion batteries and Battery Management Systems a plus
  • Hands-on experience in electromechanical system assemblies, PCB as
  • UL, NEC, IEC, etc.

    code compliance

  • sembly, wire harness fabrication, including troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and mechanical systems
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and multi-tasking capability
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs as part of the job function
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
