The Logistics Technician, under the direction of a licensed care giver, and after education and demonstration of competency, performs a variety of direct patient care activities or tasks specific to the unit/needs of the patient population. The Logistics Technician is primarily accountable for transporting supplies and equipment interdepartmentally and patients in all age groups. The Logistics Technician identifies safety concerns in the age-related population; institutes protective measures to provide a safe environment, and identifies normal growth and developmental milestones in neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.
Primary Duties:
- Observes safety guidelines in transporting supplies, specimens and equipment.
- Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when assisting in patient care.
- Takes appropriate steps in maintaining equipment including those used for patient transport.
- Reports observations and outcomes of activities performed.
- Reduces the risk of patient harm resulting from falls -observes patient for risk of falling and takes action to prevent patient falls.
- Demonstrates knowledge of normal growth and development in patient population.
- Improved the accuracy of patient identification: uses two identifiers when transporting patient between units/departments.
- Reduces the risk of health care acquired infection by complying with current CDC hand washing guidelines and CSMC isolation policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
