GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB : The Marketing Technical Support Lab, Chemist I is responsible for providing support to Product Development, Marketing, Sales, and other departments within and outside of Dunn Edwards.

He/she works closely with other members of the technical support team to lead exposure efforts, design and run competitive benchmarking as well as manage the database systems to effectively communicate large sets of data generated.

He/she will be tasked with handling and validating complaints and provide support to technical service team.

Other efforts include the proper managing of Product certification efforts.

Vital skills for the role include ability to communicate effectively, be organized, teamwork and observational skills.

All work shall be performed with adherence to Dunn Edwards’ environmental, health and safety (EHS) policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Strong general chemistry knowledge and laboratory testing methods.

Able to prepare and test products according to DE specifications independently.

He/she is able to handle multiple exposure and benchmarking projects and complete tasks based on project priority.

Organize, collect and input data from large competitive benchmarking studies into database software’s and other data entry programs.

Provides comprehensive technical support, perform testing’s and data collection and management for different MKT Tech support efforts.

Work in partnership to help project efforts by creating structured timeline and testing parameters, for benchmarking projects, Exposure testing projects and validation tests.

Maintain and manage all project records in a professional & effective manner.

Delivers quality presentations and communicates with PD, Marketing, Sales and other teams.

Helps support the continuous efforts to improve current exposure testing, benchmarking and other methods.

Create and maintain an orderly and professional workspace with adherence to good housekeeping practices.

Participate in safety inspections and conduct all work in a manner consistent with safety best practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

The Marketing Technical Support Lab Chemist I may occasionally mentor, train, and/or help direct the work of Technicians.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.S., B.

A.) from four-year College or university; and one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and methods, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively prepare and present information to a variety of audiences and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply moderate mathematical concepts such as statistical analysis exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency with MS Office.

Experience with database systems, project management software, and statistical software preferred.

Able to manipulate and create data tables build formatting techniques to organize data into charts and graphs for presentations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position will allow individual to learn a broad in-depth knowledge of paint raw materials, paint failure modes, paint market needs and the Dunn-Edwards product line.
