That’s why we’re always looking ahead, and not just to the next project or what’s next in our industry.We’re also looking at what’s next for you and how we can help you build a career you’re proud of with a team of professionals who all contribute to our impressive projects.As a Senior Estimator for our California Buildings district located in Southern California, you will contribute to our team by:Conducting detailed analysis of contract documents (isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings) and specifications for large hard-bid / lump sum, construction management and small to medium design build projects to determine overall project requirements (bonding, insurance, etc.).Capturing and understanding trade scopes, and communicates gaps / missing information.Leading pricing of the general expense and project-specific general requirements for medium to large projects (lump sum and construction management).Assisting in preparing final tender documents to submit to client to meet contract deadline requirements.Performing conceptual quantity take-offs to support construction management and design build pursuits.Soliciting competitive pricing from trade contractor and suppliers for pursuit support.Establishing team assignments and identifying estimating review dates.Reviewing all work performed by estimators on the pursuit for quality and accountability.Using contract terms to identify risks/opportunities associated with contract/project documents.Reviewing all bids, performing bid evaluation and selecting the best trade contractor pricing.Leading development of a conceptual estimate/design-build bid submission for complex projects and/or with key clients.Organizing bid closing and preparing to meet submission deadlines.Recognizing risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule and market conditions/constraints.Supervising, directing, coaching, training and mentoring direct and indirect reports.Developing and maintaining strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders, specifically trade contractors for best price.Other duties as required.
What you will bring to the role:Twelve (12) years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating with 12 months of onsite experience preferred.Successfully led pursuits valued up to $250 million in delivery model hard bid/lump sum, construction management/cost reimbursable/target price and/or design build.Experience with self-perform estimate and productivity understanding.Knowledge and understanding of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential problems and timelines and is a district champion in these matters.Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, trade contractor procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.Uses market conditions and business trends and identifies competitor strengths and weaknesses to influence bid-win strategies.Experience estimating multiple scopes and working knowledge of applicable products and systems.Able to build a conceptual estimate without drawings/specifications.Able to review project cost reports (for historical information regarding various disciplines), to use in strategic bid win strategies.Ability to lead successful teams.PCL is an innovative, employee-owned company comprised of people who find passion in their profession and take pride in doing great work every day.
