We are currently seeking a MECHANICAL ASSEMBLER to work on first shift at our Torrance, CA location, building traveling wave tube (TWT) products used for radio frequency amplification in military and communications applications. In this full-time hourly position you will be responsible for building the various assemblies and sub-assemblies that make up the initial components in our TWTs. You’ll follow detailed process instructions to put together small TWT sub-assemblies, using a variety of hand tools.

You may also carry out the final stages of TWT assembly, attaching base plates, supports, RF connectors, and covers or adding sub-assemblies as directed. Following established procedures, you’ll complete other processes such as initial high-voltage high potential testing, solder tinning, epoxy application and chemical process preparation to facilitate the production of TWT’s through final acceptance and delivery to our customers. In conjunction with others in your work group, you’ll ensure that quality, cost, and production goals are met.

Qualifications:

You will bring general knowledge of mechanical assembly processes and procedures, with previous precision mechanical assembly experience preferred. Other qualifications that will enable you to do this job effectively include:

  • Must be able to accurately read blueprints, assembly instructions, and other related documentation
  • Experience using basic hand tools.
  • 20/20 eyesight (corrected) and good hand-eye coordination are necessary, along with the ability to work with small parts and hand tools under a microscope for extended periods of time.
  • Good math skills to carry out basic calculations and measurements are required.
  • Computer data input skills are helpful.
  • Knowledge of the use of torque tools, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators is a plus.
  • Knowledge of foreign object debris (FOD) control and tool control processes is desirable.
  • Previous aerospace soldering experience and certification is a plus.
  • Experience working in a clean room is helpful.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is needed.
