Our goal is to forge lasting alliances and we”re proud to say that many of our employees have been part of the DACM team for over ten years.n nA successful candidate for this position will be assigned to the DACM contract with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Facilities Construction Program.n n Salary Range: $150,000 to $175,000 per annum n nDACM employee benefits include: 25 days a year time off with pay, 401K program, medical and dental insurance, professional development program, bonuses, and other benefits.n n Position Overview: n n This position will be responsible for managing multiple consultant design teams which are under contract to design renovation, addition, and new facilities for LAUSD school locations.

n n The position will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects.

The position functions as the lead design professional in the Design Department providing quality review, and implementation of policy and procedures.

The position interfaces with the Division of the State Architect (DSA).

Specific functions include: n n 1 Manage, develop and coordinate the District”s design process for the Facilities Services Division to ensure that plans are within functional program, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements.n n 2 Manage multiple projects through interaction with Architects, consultants, and District personnel, from project inception, through draft, to final review, approval, and hand off to the Project Execution group.n n 3 Oversee the building design process to ensure compliance with LAUSD”s standards and guidelines for the District by working with design professionals and various District administrators to ensure that new and modernized structures meet both educational and building standards requirements.n n 4 Establish and follow a process to identify, select, and procure the architectural firm best suited for each project based on the firms” qualifications and ability to meet performance standards.n n 5 Provide Architects with clear and consistent direction with regard to goals and objectives, standards, site, schedule, and budget for each project.n n 6 Establish and follow an effective and efficient design review process to ensure that the design meets the overall goals and objectives for the project, provides maximum value for dollars budgeted and is appropriate and enduring to meet the functional needs of the District, the local community, and the environment.n n 7 Develop continuing education opportunities (seminars and workshops) to learn and share up-to-date information on working with architects and contractors.n n 8 Coordinate with Division of the State Architect as required.n n 9 Coordinate project activities with other District organizational branches and departments such as Office of Environmental Health and Safety, A/E Design Services, Maintenance and Operations, School Occupancy Transition Unit, Asbestos Technical Unit, Educational Services Centers, and Local Districts.n n 10 Ensure that decisions are made in a timely manner.n n 11 Ensure that all steps within the project are documented and that the documentation meets legal requirements.n n 12 Review design changes submitted to ensure project remains within budget.n n 13 Recommend architectural firms from an established list of prequalified firms.n n 14 Participate in community relations and outreach programs to create understanding and acceptance of District building projects design within the community.n n 15 Develop continuing education opportunities, i.e.

seminars and workshops, to learn and share up-to-date information on working with architects and contractorsn n 16 Coordinate activities with other LAUSD departments, including Maintenance and Operations, Office of Environmental Health and safety, Asbestos Unit, and Local Districts.n n Job Requirements: n n Minimum Requirements n n Required Experience: n nTen (10) years of professional experience managing the facilities design, or the planning and coordination, of capital projects that included the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating and scheduling activities.n nFive (5) years of this experience must be with the design, planning, and construction of education facilities or similar public agency facilities.n n Additional Preferred Experience: n nExperience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).n nExperience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or n the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).n nExperience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction / design processes.n n Required Education: n nGraduation from a recognized college or university with Bachelor”s degree in Architecture or Engineering.n n Preferred Licenses and Certificates: n nA valid Architect license issued by the California Architects Board or a valid Professional n Engineer license as issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land n Surveyors.n nnby Jobblenn
