VP, Health Research & Evaluation

The Vice President, Health Research & Evaluation position, under the supervision and guidance of the Chief Health Officer, supplies the opportunity for an experienced, motivated leader to grow and expand our all research and evaluation work regarding our health strategy and programming.

Special Olympics’ health research and evaluation (R&E) team will play a critical role supporting Special Olympics’ new 2021-31 global health strategy by developing and leading the evaluation of health-related process, outcome, experience and impact measures that our programming produces.

The team provides monitoring and evaluation technical assistance to country and state Special Olympics Programs, leads and manages data collection activities related to health and evaluating the implementation of new health programming, analyzes health data, and disseminates results widely both towards knowledge management and awareness and improving the quality of our work.

We are poised to expand the work by growing the funding and operational base for research and evaluation; ramping up research publication and dissemination; and improving research and evaluation data systems to support Special Olympics health and overall mission.

Primary Responsibilities: Develop Special Olympics Health’s long-term vision, strategy and execution for Research and Evaluation and translate into key initiatives and priorities; Work collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team to oversee the development and delivery of evaluation measures of in-person and virtual interventions that will reach people with intellectual disabilities in the U.S.

and globally; Secure grant funding opportunities and oversee evaluation projects in each of our strategic pillars to advance health programming work Provide dissemination of findings through substantial publication and utilize findings in development of quality improvement cycles Oversee health research and evaluation planning, budgeting, decision-making, implementation, and operations Serve on the leadership team of the Special Olympics health department and provide strategic leadership regarding health research and evaluation.

Required Qualifications: Terminal research degree, PhD or equivalent, with a 10 year history of scholarly work, including a history of significant publication, success in funding and progressive leadership with a focus on health outcomes 5 years of direct supervision and leadership of research teams with a focus on motivating teams to excel, change management and expansion Significant experience in successful submission, planning, management and implementation of large federal, foundation and other grants Experience with budget development and financial oversight Broad research experience, including oversight of qualitative and quantitative studies, quality measurement and improvement Excellent verbal and written communications skills, especially in successful proposal and research manuscript writing Track record in relationship development towards fundraising Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and people in a fast-paced, deadline driven setting Passion for IDD is required though previous experience is not Desired Qualifications Clinical terminal degree in the field of medicine, nursing, etc.

a plus Successful experience cultivating, securing and stewarding partners and sponsors; Interest or experience in working with people with intellectual disabilities, in a clinical or personal capacity; Fluency in language other than English.
