VP Finance

Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP, Finance will be a strategic thought leader and operator. The VP, Finance will provide financial and accounting leadership and controls, as well as to provide insightful and trusted counsel on financial and broad-based business issues, including board-level representation of the company’s financial goals and priorities. The VP, Finance will have consumer and/or enterprise experience, be data-driven and detail-oriented and can work well with cross-functional teams. 

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Oversee and grow daily operations of the finance and accounting department
  • Provide leadership, direction, and develop team using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities, and monitor and evaluate results
  • Serve as a thought partner, providing strategic and financial analysis to leadership across the organization regarding risk / reward of investments, deals, initiatives, campaigns, etc.
  • Manage budget control and analysis to maintain expense control
  • Provide headcount and capital resource planning and decision-making support, along with corresponding impacts on OKRs, P&L, and Cash Flow
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve financial performance across all facets of the business
  • Lead the company in collaborative quarterly/yearly budget planning, sharing accountability with department leaders. 
  • Deliver key short-term and long-range financial forecasting and business modeling
  • Partner with departmental leaders to establish metrics, objectives and financial goals
  • Manage and deliver financial reporting and company-wide operational metrics to leadership, board, and partners
  • Work with the Controller to manage cash, audit, and tax and maintain strong external banking/accounting relationships
  • Manage cap table and finance-related corporate governance items with outside legal counsel.
  • Participate in Board Meetings and present financials
  • Work with Controller and FP&A teams to scope, implement, and manage key systems.
  • Provide expertise and support for corporate development efforts, including fundraising and M&A
  • Recruit and retain talent on the finance and accounting teams as the company grows

Here’s What We’re Looking For:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 12+ years of consulting, investment banking, financial analysis or related experience, preferably in a technology and/or startup environment
  • 6 years+ of progressive management experience; 3+ years of managing managers CPA and/or MBA a plus
  • Demonstrated success as a finance executive within a high-growth, venture-backed startup
  • Deep understanding of multiple business models and relevant metrics preferred (SaaS, eCommerce, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Entrepreneurial and high-energy business athlete with a strong quantitative skill set and an analytical, intellectually curious mindset
  • Data-driven decision maker with a player/coach mentality
  • Ability to develop and implement systems, tools and processes increasing business clarity and efficiency
  • Results and detail-oriented with ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines
  • Highest-level communications and presentation skills
  • Track record of providing inspiring leadership, nurturing and developing a team of talented individuals, and allowing them to reach peak performance
