Technical Accounting Advisory – Senior Associate

As a result of continued growth within our Accounting Advisory practice, we are currently seeking a Senior Associate for our national team that will have the flexibility to sit most offices throughout our footprint or possibly remote for the right resource. In this role, you will be responsible for handling multiple client relationships with a team of professionals providing consulting around events & transaction services, reviews around complex GAAP & IFRS projects, as well as other projects & solutions; while providing an appropriate level of staff supervision to ensure deadlines are met through the timely review of deliverables.

What your days look like:

The Senior Associate is responsible for providing consulting services to clients as they navigate complex technical accounting events. Examples of a typical projects include new accounting standard implementation, support throughout the Initial Public Offering (IPO) process, a SPAC transaction, accounting implications from a business combination, carve-out audits, financial statement conversions, complex debt/equity transactions, etc. In this role, you will participate in all stages of various consulting engagements and provide assistance with planning, field work, engagement wrap up and deliverable composition. 

 

What you need for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CPA in process/eligibility
  • Two (2) or more years of experience within a public accounting firm or industry environment performing audit, accounting or consulting services required
  • Interest in and experience with technical accounting matters
  • Prior experience with a SPAC, an IPO, ASC 606, 326, 842, 805 or GASB 87, as well as SEC reporting is a plus
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Prior experience with various assurance applications and research tools beneficial

 

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, including but not limited to, the accounting treatment for: inventory, debt, equity, revenue, business combinations, leases, etc.
  • Knowledge of IFRS a plus
  • Strong organizational skills including experience with planning and leading a project from start to finish
  • Capable of managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously while working independently and within a group environment
  • Robust verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt style and messaging to effectively communicate with professionals at all levels both within the client organization and the firm
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Capable of working in a demanding, deadline driven environment with a focus on details and accuracy
  • Ability to travel to client sites up to 20% if requested
