Tax and Accounting Analyst

Job Summary

QTC is seeking a Tax and Accounting Analyst to be responsible for applying principles of accounting and tax laws to analyze data, verify financial information, compile tax filings and prepare workpapers and reports, and assist with various accounting/finance projects.  The analyst is responsible to support all tax and regulatory compliance functions and interact with different departments as well as third party vendors and CPA firms on a regular basis.  The analyst is also responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and tax policies and procedures. About 70% to 80% of the time will be spent on tax and compliance related work, and the remaining time is expected to be spent on accounting/finance projects.

Local candidates who can work in the San Dimas, CA office two to four days a month highly preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains tax & regulatory compliance records, logs and spreadsheets.
  • Analyzes general ledgers, trial balance, financial statements, accounting records and other legal documents.
  • Assists with tax related reconciliations, accruals and journal entries.
  • Assists with 1099 filing process and provider inquiries. Analyzes & summarizes provider payment information and transactions.  Provides 1099 summary data to management & third party vendor to generate 1099s.
  • Supports income tax and other compliance filings.
  • Assists with Annual Report and Tradename filings.
  • Researches on state and city license and permit requirement and apply accordingly.
  • Assists with Personal Property tax filings. Analyzes & summarizes year end purchases and expense data.
  • Assists with the physical inventory of fixed assets project (coordination and reconciliation).
  • Assists with Unclaimed Property filings. Responds to provider inquiries on unclaimed property letters and coordinates with Accounts Payable to reissue payments.  
  • Researches on accounting, finance or business transactions and regulations for tax implications.
  • Gathers information and prepares work papers for third party vendors and CPA firms.
  • Computes sales & use tax, gross receipts and other indirect taxes calculations
  • Responds to state and city notices and government authorities under the instructions of supervisors.
  • Supports tax or compliance related audit data requests from government authorities.
  • Assesses transactions for root causes and suggests improvements for overall process.
  • Responds timely and professionally to internal and external inquiries and escalates issues to direct supervisor.
  • Interacts with personnel in different departments (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Accounts Payable, Procurement, Human Resources, Payroll, Provider Relations, IT, Parent Company, etc.).
  • Ensures compliance with company policies as well as relevant accounting policies, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP), Internal Revenue Code (IRC), Circular 230, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
  • Assists with ad hoc projects and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience: (includes certificate & licenses)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education
  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience in Tax/ Accounting
  • Experience with Acumatica, Sage MAS90, or Tableau a plus

 

Pay and Benefits:

Salary range:  $73,000 – $89,000
