Statutory Accountant

The Position: We are seeking a candidate for the Junior Accountant, Statutory Accounting position.

This individual will be responsible for numerous activities within the department as well as have opportunities to liaise with various Business Units and supporting departments.

This role offers the opportunity for the individual to grow and develop within the Finance department.

The position will provide exposure to the Company’s various divisions and operations and provide insight into how the business is managed.

This individual will have a high level of interaction with other members of the finance teams throughout the organization as well as interaction with other support teams.

Based in the northeast, this position will report to the AVP of Statutory Accounting .

The ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills, an analytical mindset, strong Excel skills and the ability to multitask in order to effectively manage his or her time across various roles and responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting in the preparation of all NAIC and state regulatory filings for multiple insurance entitiesPerform analysis over statutory aging of premium receivables by division ensuring adherence to accounting policy Work with various departments to obtain required data for statutory filings.Interact with various levels of management to obtain understanding of processes, risks and controlsWork collaboratively and display teamwork Required Skills/Experience: Ability to “think outside the box” and evaluate processes to identify opportunities for improvement Critical thinking and robust analytical skills Statutory accounting knowledge including preparation of annual statements, combined annual statements and supplements a plusStrong interpersonal, communication, and organization skillsCapability to function in a team environment while assuming increased responsibilities within a dynamic and growing organizationExceptional work ethic, integrity and ability to work autonomously while effectively managing expectationsInclination to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges, with a positive “can do” attitudeStrong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to use complex formulas to manipulate large volume of dataExperience with Cognos, Alteryx ,TM1, Great Plains Eagle WINGS, GAIN Compliance and Onestream are a plus Education: Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance 1-3 years of accounting or finance experienceProperty/casualty insurance experience a plus.
