Performs diverse accounting functions related to month-end close and monthly internal reporting for management, quarterly and annual financial reporting for membership and key stakeholders, assistance with our agency subsidiary, and forecast/budgeting across the company.
This position will also assist in operational accounting functions related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, account reconciliations and filing mandatory information returns on an as needed basis.(br(*Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *(br(* Prepare mandatory filings including business tax renewal, environmental fee return, property tax return and sales/use tax return(br(* Participate in the budget process by reconciling reports in Budget Maestro to AccountMate, assist in importing AccountMate data, assist in budget allocation, run departmental budget reports and assist managers on basic budget software navigation.(br(* Create/publish monthly budget reports and other ad hoc reports as directed(br(* Assist in compiling documentation in response to auditor requests(br(* Assist in preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system as well as various personnel across all departments(br(* Assist in researching accounting guidance and interpreting data to provide accounting and finance related answers for department management(br(* Reconcile bank account statements and other accounts as assigned(br(* Provide backup to A/P staff on various tasks including scanning invoices in Onbase, entering invoices in AccountMate, printing, scanning and mailing checks as assigned(br(* Oversee A/P staff’s process of clearing stale-dated checks as assigned(br(* Provide backup to A/R staff on daily tasks including processing credit card payments in CyberSource, daily cash reports, opening/sorting mail, reviewing cash application, and other tasks as needed(br(* Review A/P detail report for accuracy prior to invoice application and check printing as assigned(br(* Create void check registers on a daily basis and oversee the maintenance of A/P paid files as assigned(br(* Analyze and scrub through A/P paid data files, work with A/P staff to obtain missing W9 or TIN and generate 1099MISC forms as assigned(br(* Respond to inquiries regarding check status and process requests for void/re-issue as assigned(br(* Perform due diligence on unclaimed ITD’s or checks considered dormant, prepare unclaimed property report and respond to any inquiries or request for re-issues as assigned(br(* Input claims and legal adjustments in A/P (copays, refund checks, voids, etc.) as assigned(br(* Book entries and maintain schedules related to amortization of prepaid expenses and fixed assets depreciation as assigned(br(* Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures(br(* Employee education and awareness is an important element in the company’s cybersecurity program.
Accordingly, as Staff Accountant II, you are responsible for being cautious and vigilant when opening emails, attachments, links, etc.
on CAP’s computer equipment or when accessing the company system remotely.
