THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Senior Director, Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and operational management of PanCAN’s financial planning and analysis.

This position will develop and own financial models and business processes to establish, manage, and communicate revenue and expense forecasting.

It will also support the long-range planning as well as the evaluation of new opportunities and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and lead a robust and well vetted annual budgeting process as well as subsequent re-forecast(s).

Support the organization’s overall multi-year strategic planning process through financial modeling and analysis.

Adapt and improve budgeting/forecasting tools to improve efficiency in the process, supporting and training departments in the completion of the annual budget and reforecasts.

Partner with our various departments, reviewing financial performance monthly with department stakeholders.

Closely monitor results against the annual budget and re-forecasts.

Properly escalate material risks or known variances.

Provide oversight of PanCAN’s clinical trial finance operations and the tracking of financial performance against assumptions.

Improve financial forecasting accuracy through rigorous analysis, modeling, and collaboration with business stakeholders understanding key drivers and assumptions Provide board level presentation materials with clear analysis of key financial metrics Build and maintain complex financial models and analytic tools to monitor PanCAN’s financial performance and key organization metrics.

Forge strong partnerships with the Financial Reporting, Revenue Management and Data Analytics teams that supports a culture of collaboration, communication and excellence.

Partner with the data analytics team leveraging insights to inform annual and long-range business planning.

Lead and inspire the financial planning and analysis team to deliver highest quality work.

Optimize staff resource deployment to best serve business stakeholders across the organization.

Improve and automate financial reports.

Improve integration of financial data between budgeting and reporting tools.

Own and deliver special projects to support various business initiatives.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

In accordance with applicable policies and Federal/State laws, may perform the following supervisory responsibilities: Interviewing, hiring, orienting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. 
A minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible relevant experience; nonprofit experience a plus.

Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising, clinical trial finance operations and/or grant funding highly desirable Advanced financial modeling and analysis experience, including Excel modeling Strong financial acumen and analytical skills with an ability to synthesize financials and summarize results across various levels of the organization Strong written, oral, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in ways that are accessible and understandable.

Must be effective in cross-departmental, one-on-one, small and large group settings, with varying levels of staff and executive leadership.

Financial systems experience with Vena planning tool and Blackbaud Financial Edge a plus A high energy, self-starter who drives action and results, regardless of challenges, changes or setbacks Highly organized; ability to prioritize, delegate and balance team responsibilities Collaborative approach, flexible and high degree of emotional intelligence Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with competing deadlines and multiple stakeholders Experience successfully driving process improvement including leading special projects Experience successfully mentoring and coaching staff to grow within an organization Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy Transformative thinker who cultivates innovation and is able to focus on achieving current goals while considering what future goals should look like
