Our firm is searching for a Tax Staff with a wealth of tax knowledge to support our team. The successful candidate will have a background in tax law and their responsibilities will involve preparing tax returns, communicating with clients about their tax status, and overseeing any changes in tax policies or laws. Job Description:
• Prepares federal and state and multi-state returns for partnerships, C-corporations, S-corporations, non-profit, trust and estate, and individuals and performs in-depth research.
• Responsible for tax compliance and client management to include direct client contact.
• Assist clients with IRS audits, responses to tax notices or other returns.
• Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards.
• Meets time constraints and client deadlines.
• Suggests client tax planning ideas to supervisor, manager, or Partner.
• Proactively takes ownership of projects, seeing them through to ultimate completion & delivery to client.
• Prepares other reports, projects and duties as may be assigned.
• Begins to develop referral sources, which may include involvement in community, business and professional organizations.
Required Skills:
• BS/BA accounting preferred
• MST and CPA preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years tax experience in a public accounting firm
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
• Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and to complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.
• Strong tax research and writing skills
• Proven technical skills with MS Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Competence with tax compliance and research software to include CCH
• Solid project management and organizational skills
• Proficient in Lacerte, Quickbooks, Quickbooks Online as well as other accounting software
• Strong leadership skills
Minimum Qualifications:
• At least three (3) years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of tax knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• Either hold a current and valid CPA’s license, or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam

- Preparing income tax returns, tax provisions
- Use tax, accounting, tax returns
- Assist with tax files/tax returns with external tax consultants
- Preparing federal tax returns, state/local tax returns and estimated payments
- Assisting in preparation of sales tax returns, income tax returns and state franchise returns
- Review federal and state income tax returns
- Prepare quarterly tax estimates, annual tax provision and annual tax returns
- Reconcile accounting for sales tax, income tax, franchise tax and property tax
- Use tax and property tax audits
- Coordinate federal and state tax returns
- Complete state and federal tax returns
- Prepare personal property tax returns
- Prepare federal tax returns and various state returns including franchise tax returns and annual reports
- File all property tax returns
- Prepare income and franchise tax returns
- Decide best tax strategies when preparing tax returns
- Prepare state income tax returns for review
- Prepare the tax work-papers for tax returns preparation
