Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant who will report to the Cost Accounting Supervisor based locally and will work with a team. In this role you will support a local accounting/finance structure, working directly with the operations and also helping out with other facilities if needed.

  • Focus on Process and Efficiency improvement, identifying and escalating issues and bottlenecks.
  • Inventory accounting (inventory initiatives to reduce, No Demand, and OSMI)
  • Inventory reconciliation, work with operations to ensure inventory job issues are completed.
  • Work with Project Management to analyze and evaluate cost in ERP.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and answer basic to complex questions.
  • Support the Cost Accounting Supervisor and Finance Business Partners in the calculation of standards, rates and/or costing standards and analyze impacts in the product cost.
  • Support the Finance Business Partner organization on Cost Accounting issues.
  • Explore and analyze root causes of any cost related business operations issues and propose policy or process changes to improve work moving forward.
  • Participates and supports Project Review Meetings to Identify information to be used on Revenue accounting records and calculations for both Percentage-of-Completion and Point-in-Time projects.
  • Review Lower of Cost or Market (LCM) on projects, analyze, and comply with LCM, Loss Contracts policies. Ensure accounting and reporting activities are completed timely and in accordance with company policies (US GAAP)
  • Perform contract analysis for all in-scope contracts, manage RCS system for POC and non-POC reporting.
  • Provide actual information to be used as a base on Costs and Margins for Percentage-of-Completion and Point-in-Time project’s forecast.
  • Analyze account balances and activity. Take the appropriate measures to increase the accuracy of the accounting records.
  • Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Project Management, and Engineering to complete all job responsibilities on a timely basis.
  • Work closely with BSC (Business Services Center) to ensure accurate transacting and reporting.
  • Support plant and company-wide initiatives related to shortening the close process, efficiency KPIs, rework, scrap, etc.
  • Sales and margin analysis
  • Reconcile month end bookings.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations Comply with all Corporate Policies
  • Month End & Quarterly Supplemental disclosure reporting
  • Assist with documentation, explanations, and ad hoc reporting related to interim and year end audits.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in (Accounting and Finance)
  • Five or more years of relevant Cost Accounting experience (Industrial Manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong Excel skills are required (e. g., Pivot Tables, Macros, Vlookups), experience in Power functions is a plus (Power Query, PowerPivot)
  • Knowledge of SAP, Baan and BPC a plus
  • Experience in PowerBI is a plus
  • Knowledge of US GAAP required (especially ASC606)
  • Experience working for a multinational company.
  • Experience in project-based and Quick Response Center Services
  • Strong Analytics and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Must be a team player, who is committed to company and individual performance targets.
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to ask questions when unsure.
  • Able to multi-task in high pressure time-constrained situations
  • Able to work on cross-functional teams with minimal supervision.
  • Works independently to ensure adherence to tight site and corporate reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate findings and concerns to management.
  • Experience in some combination of technical accounting and research skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to package and present complex information in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders globally.
