Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant performs professional level accounting work in the generation, analysis, and maintenance of fiscal records related to LA Live, JW Marriott/Ritz Carlton, Regal Cinemas, and other AEG-owned real estate entities.

The position requires considerable knowledge of accounting principles and accounting functions in order to work independently to complete tasks.

The Senior Accountant will work directly with the Finance Management team and be responsible for specific aspects of the day-to-day accounting for LA Live, The JW Marriott/Ritz Carlton Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott/Residence Inn, and Regal Cinemas, while also assisting with budgeting and financial reporting for these entities.

In addition, the Senior Accountant will attend monthly meeting with senior management at the JW Marriott/Ritz Carlton hotels and complete debt reporting packages for lenders, as well as with internal heads of departments to discuss financial results and forecast updates.

Among other responsibilities this position is responsible for ensuring compliance with AEG accounting policies and procedures, and assisting with activities associated with the annual financial audits.

This position may be asked to perform ad-hoc analyses and create spreadsheets and reports for management, as necessary.

These responsibilities and tasks will be coordinated with and supervised by the Accounting Manager, LA Live.

Essential Functions:
Perform general ledger and month-end close accounting duties for assigned entities Prepare and record various journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and determine appropriate accruals to be made monthly.

Work with internal heads of departments and third-party managers to ensure accuracy and completeness of entries.

Update month end supporting schedules and balance sheet reconciliations.

Work with LA Live Cinemas Events team to prepare invoices timely and monitor outstanding AR Aging.

Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and analyses for management and other internal and external stakeholders.

Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports for assigned entities.

Work with heads of department to understand and explain variances.

Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and monthly/quarterly forecasts.

Work with heads of department to understand and explain variances and adjust forecasts.

Work with heads of departments to prepare first draft of annual budget for responsible departments/entities.

Assist with activities related to annual financial statement audits.

Provide auditors with support as requested as well as answering any questions as needed.

Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly debt reporting packages to banking partners and senior management.

Complete and manage ad hoc projects as directed by the Senior VP, Senior Accounting Manager, and/or Accounting Manager.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Business Management (Accounting, Finance or related area preferred) Minimum of 4 years related experience;  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Must have excellent organizational skills with a hands-on approach to complete tasks Must have basic knowledge of accounting principles and theory (debits and credits, accrual accounting, matching principle, materiality, balance sheet versus P&L accounts, etc.) and able to put this theory into practice.

Ability to multitask on various daily duties and ad-hoc assignments Ability to access and accurately input information using JD Edwards.

Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with minimal direct supervision.

Ability to shift priorities considered necessary to accomplish prioritized tasks in a high-paced, results oriented environment Must be proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook applications.

Must have either public or private accounting with general ledger accounting experience Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed. 
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA preferred.

Progress toward obtaining CPA will also be considered.

Experience in a team, high-paced results oriented environment Familiarity with real estate and hotel operations.

Experience with high-end accounting systems such as JD Edwards, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or SAP Public or private accounting with general ledger accounting experience

We have controlled building access with health screenings prior to entering, all staff must wear a face mask, during events we have different zones to diminish close contact between staff, outdoor break areas, hand sanitizer throughout the building, and frequent cleaning and disinfecting.
During Covid-19, this position will work remotely from home, but will be scheduled minimal shifts at the venue’s office.

Post Covid-19, the candidate must be available to work from the venue’s office and will no longer work remotely.
