Project Cost Accounting Specialist

Description: Job Summary: Ensure construction projects are performing within budget, all costs are accrued, and maintain or exceed budget profit margin.

Present project cost performance to upper management and recommend mitigation measures and proactive corrective actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Review and upload original project budgets to the company’s project control platform.

· Review and insure accurate cost allocation to the proper cost codes in the original budget.

· Track, analyze and control the costs associated with the projects through review and co-approval of Change Orders, Budget Revisions, PO’s, Vendors and Subcontractor’s Invoices.

· Identify errors in cost allocations and work with other parties to correct it.

· Assist project managers with updating cost forecast, Estimate to Completion, Estimate at Completion, and project risks.

· Produce month end financial report and review with upper management.

· Identify the root cause for cost variances and overruns.

· Attend monthly projects / portfolio review meetings to discuss project cost performance.

· Develop and implement proactive solutions and cost-cutting measures.

· Analyze cost trends and manpower productivity, feedback to estimation department to provide support for future project estimates.

· Coordinate with Project managers, accounting and HR departments to close completed jobs.

· Other duties assigned .

Requirements: Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Project management, Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.

· 5 years of experience in construction costing and/or accounting.

· Experience with Sage Construction Project Center (SCPC) software platform is a plus.

· Experience with Power BI is a plus.

· Commanding skills in Excel.

· Able to develop strong, cooperative relationships with departments heads.

· Creative thinking skills and ability to solve problems.

Computer Skills: Individual should be proficient in Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Project Management Software; Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); and Presentation Software (PowerPoint).
