Plant Controller

For this reason, we are seeking an Experienced Manufacturing Controller for our Electric Bus Manufacturing Plant in Lancaster, California.

JOB DUTIES

The Manufacturing Controller will work as a key member of the manufacturing leadership team to manage operations. He or she will report to the Director of Finance and lead finance teams including cost accounting, accounts payable, and payroll to provide financial support to manufacturing operations.

Costing:

  • Accurately track, record, report, and perform review and analysis on bus and truck work order costs inclusive of direct materials, direct labor, and factory overhead allocations. Utilize and leverage the SAP MRP system to the utmost extent for robust reporting and cost analytics.
  • Proactively assume ownership of assigned work orders to ensure job costing is accurate from work order inception through work in process inventory and until final movement to finished goods is completed and the work order closed.
  • Work in close coordination with the Warehouse, Purchasing, and Material Control departments to ensure bus and truck work order costs accurately capture materials purchased and received for specific projects and related bus and truck work orders.
  • Work cross-functionally with other factory support and general and administrative departments including but not limited to Production, Quality, Engineering, Production Planning, and Customer Service, to obtain a complete understanding of how the manufacturing process life cycle ultimately impacts bus and truck costs.
  • Support the monthly accounting G/L close process in close coordination with the Controller, the larger Accounting department, and the corporate office in Los Angeles.
  • Respond to requests from corporate around work order costing and support internal and external audits.
  • Cost analysis – analyze manufacturing cost – material, labor, and overhead. This needs to be by both total and breakdowns by-product or work order. Cost accounting processes need to be established and followed in line with SAP new implementations. Cost reports need to be reviewed with any issues addressed to warehouse and production. Cost accounting entries are reviewed and posted timely.

Inventory:

  • Perform the monthly review, analysis, and reconciliation of inventory accounts including raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory balances.
  • Support and participate in monthly and quarterly inventory counts in close coordination with the Warehouse staff. Perform required adjustments as a result of counts.
  • Respond to requests from corporate around raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory balances, and support year-end and other external audits.
  • Inventory accounting and control – Lancaster needs to be an expert in accounting, reporting, and analyzing inventory. Aging analysis has to be performed monthly as well as slow-moving, obsolete inventory, and inventory reserves. Review with operations on inventory issues and follow up on actions.
  • Physical inventory – prepare inventory plan and coordinate to perform physical inventory, analyze inventory results, and perform inventory adjustments.
  • Perform account analysis for all inventory accounts and follow up on any issues.

Accounts Payable:

  • Match invoices and process payments in the SAP system.
  • Mange aging of accounts payable and work with the purchasing department to address issues related to PO’s, receiving, and invoices.
  • Manage company credit cards, perform audits of expense reports, and process reimbursements to employees.

Other:

  • Assist the Controller with Fixed Assets and G/L Accounting responsibilities, ad-hoc reporting, special projects, and other plant operational responsibilities. Contract bids support – help to review contract bids from sales and ensure all costs per BOM are included in the bids with correct amounts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, and/or Economics required.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in Finance or Accounting.
  • 1 to 2 years of manufacturing cost accounting and supervisory experience.
  • Highly motivated and able to grow with the department and the company.
  • Be able to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task with a can-do attitude.
  • Must be able to collaborate and work cross-functionally.
  • Must work well in a fast-paced office environment.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Bi-lingual English & Mandarin preferred.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.

The work site for this position will be the beautiful and sunny City of Lancaster, Los Angeles County, California.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
