and www.Immigrantjusticefund.Org/SUMMARYThe Associate Director of Accounting leads an accounting team to accurately perform all accounting functions, adhere to internal controls and manage systems to report financial information to internal and external stakeholders.

This leader will have in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proficiency in accounting research, pay great attention to detail and have a strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of accurate and efficient close and financial reporting processes.Essential Job FunctionsFinancial Accounting: Ensures revenue and expenses are recorded accurately and timely.

Manages the month end close process ensuring entries are accurate, errors are minimized, data is accessible and transparent to internal stakeholders.Internal Controls: Maintains internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, program budgets, and expenditures.

Reviews and approves all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.Financial Systems: Responsible for data integrity within all financial systems, including the accounting, expense management, banking and payroll and timekeeping systems.

Responsible for ensuring financial system processes are optimized and procedures are developed and maintained.

Responsible for successful integration and maintenance of financial reporting systems.Compliance: Completes all state and federal tax forms, registrations, and licenses for continued operations.

Takes responsibility and serve a key role in the timely and accurate completion of annual audit and tax filings.Leadership: Removes barriers and develops staff to optimize individual and team performance; serves as a partner to other leaders in the organization identifying areas of improvement and building solutions to bridge gaps and advance our efforts to create work/life harmony.

This will require the ability to lead and drive change, model resiliency and flexibility as we continue to build capacity and capability in the organization.Performs other management duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesInterviews, hires, trains, and mentors accounting staff; ensures continuing education for staff to perform their dutiesPrioritizes work, removes barriers, and provides constructive and timely feedback to direct reportsDirectly manages multiple employeesManages outside consultants, third-party administrators, and vendorsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferredAt least five years of accounting experience required in a 501 c3 non-profit, experience with 501 c3 and 501 c4 preferredExperience using NetSuite or other accounting applications, financial/human resource information systems, and Microsoft Office applications and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel strongly desiredQualificationsValues aligned with the mission of defending and advancing the rights of immigrants with low income.
