Manager, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting

The Manager, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for global accounting policy, technical accounting and reporting along with driving compliance with Parent Company guidelines and policy.

The Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting monitors emerging accounting guidance and strategic transactions, leads the implementation of accounting policies related to new accounting standards and guidelines, collaborates with business partners to structure transactions to maximize operating and accounting goals and serves as the key liaison with the various finance teams and external auditors on accounting policy and technical accounting matters.

In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring the adoption, implementation and maintenance of the Parent Company policies and programs by working with business stakeholders to operationalize and ensure ultimate compliance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies to ensure timely identification of emerging accounting pronouncements and keep management and business partners updated on developments in accounting and financial reporting and related policies and positions through issuance of various publications, training sessions, and other meeting forums. 

• Project lead for the implementation of new accounting standards across functional teams.

• Engage with business partners on a regular basis to ensure all relevant accounting issues and complex transactions are identified and assist in structuring transactions to maximize operating and accounting goals. 

• Assess and document the accounting impact for major corporate events, including significant contracts, acquisitions, and other one-off transactions.

Work proactively with the Assistant Controller, SVP, Corporate Controller and various finance teams both at the Company and Parent and external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters and support finance teams to ensure proper accounting.

• Prepare documentation to support the Company’s position on proposed and new accounting guidelines.

• Develop relationships with various accounting and non-accounting personnel within the Company to stay abreast of Company transactions, contracts and commitments.

• Ensure complete understanding of Parent Global Accounting Policies and their appropriateness to Company operations while maintaining Company Accounting Policy Manual and team with business process owners in ensuring policies and procedures are updated and compliant with the Parent and IFRS/US GAAP.

Conduct policies and procedures training for the world-wide accounting organization as needed. 

• Lead recurring Accounting Policy Update Meetings as needed to share the accounting impact of changes in accounting policies and major events with management and external auditors.

• Prepare and compile the Company’s Quarterly and Annual financial reporting as needed including footnotes and other reporting disclosures.

• Lead revenue recognition process, review contract with analysis under IFRS 15.

Provide guidance on revenue and cost accounting for significant contracts, and draft position paper.

• Prepare and review accounting entries and reconciliations related to capitalized internally developed software, stock based compensation, IFRS 16 Lease Accounting and other complex areas. 

• Assist with the internal and external audit process for responsible area’s and accounting policy alignment.

• Assist with the preparation of purchase accounting entries and financial due diligence procedures of potential business transactions as needed.

Provide overall guidance on the proper accounting for any Merger’s and Acquisition accounting that impacts the Company.

• Oversee and conduct asset impairment analysis per Company policy. 

• Collaborate with the Assistant Controller on the analysis and quantification of any accounting errors. 

• Ensure ownership of the Company control structure and drive design and implementation with business partners as needed.

• Responsible for the resolution of accounting and policy issues, including monitoring remediation status and provide technical accounting leadership for special projects as needed.

• Partner with the Assistant Controller, Revenue Accounting Manager and Accounts Payable Manager to implement automated scalable solutions that improve process, accuracy, and operational efficiency of the underlying accounting records.

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance

• CPA (Active License)

• Minimum 7-10 years public company technical accounting experience including 4+ years at a Big 4 public accounting firm 

• Exceptionally strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP with an emphasis on IFRS 15/ASC 606 and stock based compensation accounting

• Outstanding project management, oral communication, analytical and written skills

• Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to build strong cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively with a variety of personalities

• Ability to effectively present information to various levels of management

• Meticulous and superior attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement

• Prior experience with NetSuite or larger ERP such as Oracle R12

• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, employee stock option software and reporting software such as Hyperion Financial Management

• Knowledge of Sox Compliance/Control requirements
