The Group Director, Global Investmentis a senior client leadership role, managing Amazon’s media investments and partnerships that are held at a Global level. This person is a cross-market investment leader, driving collaboration, excellence, and quality of product across channels and countries to deliver strategic and integrated global investment solutions. The role will focus on investment strategy and partnership development at a global scale to maximize value for both Amazon and Initiative. This role will cover all media types (TV, Digital, OOH, Print & Radio) across multiple geographies including Europe, LATAM, Asia and North America. This role sits within the Rufus Global Investment Team, reporting to the Global Chief Investment Officer. The Global Investment Team serves to create global investment strategies and partnerships, as well as centralization, consistency and support for the regional/local investment leads and teams.

Desired Skills & Experience

The desired candidate has a digital-first global media background and a strong and clearly articulated POV. The Group Director of Global Investment must bring marketplace knowledge, media trends and insights to every conversation to drive current actions as well as forward thinking POVs (including positions we should take, what to lock in, how to drive innovation, and what partnerships should look like).

  • Global and digital-first mindset set with solid understanding of all media channels.
  • 10+ years’ experience managing investments, negotiating partnerships, and developing/implementing go to market strategies for large advertisers.
  • Developed, negotiated, and managed global paid media partnerships.
  • High level sales and marketing relationships with major global partners.
  • Strong media marketplace knowledge and understanding of what drives the most successful agreements between media partners, clients, and agencies.
  • Understanding of international media buying
  • Strong operational and analytical capabilities with high attention to detail.
  • Good communication and articulation skills.
  • Ability to quickly build professional relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues.
  • Able to work across cultural boundaries in an articulate and sensitive manner.

Investment Strategy:

  • Partner with Global CIO to determine where macro/global investment strategies will best drive client business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Regional Investment Leads to develop and deploy cross-market investment strategies that drive value and innovation.
  • Develop and/or optimize visibility into global investment by partner (aided by systems & new DTT automation).
  • Advise clients on navigating complex media landscape; including but not limited to:
  • Competitive streaming landscape
  • Global currency and measurement advances and opportunities
  • Develop Test & Learns with short and long-term vision.

Partnership Development:

  • Partner with Amazon and Rufus Local Investment Teams to establish Partnerships approach, ensuring there’s a strategy for Global vs. Regional/Local Partnerships and the benefits within (e.g., access to products and services, first looks, research and enhanced value).
  • Identify, design and negotiate Partnerships/JBPs that are aligned to Amazon’s business needs, working in lock step with Amazon and Rufus Local Investment Teams.
  • Global Partnerships may be macro (year long, XLOB) or be more focused (specific LOB or campaign based).
  • Work withRegional Investment Leads to ensure local teams are activating and maximizing partnerships (new and existing) by enhancing process and education.
  • Establish and implement process for tracking Partnership effectiveness, pacing and forecasting.
  • Partner with key global, regional, and local stakeholders to ensure investment requirements are met for global partnerships.
  • Consult, as needed, on direct Partnerships being negotiated by Amazon.
  • Elevate global media partner relationships to drive unique client opportunities and innovation.
  • Regularly engage with key partner contacts to deepen relationships and ensure understanding of the role of the Rufus Global Investment Team.
  • Ensure proper briefings and updates to global partners.

Global Cohesion & Coordination:

  • Partner with Rufus Managing Directors, Heads of, and Regional Investment Leads to align on short and long-term investment and partnership strategies.
  • Identify and build relationships with Global/Regional Client Leads across NA, EMEA, LATAM and APAC.
  • Socialize successful partnerships, investment strategies, stewardship techniques and best practices across teams to generate time efficiency and ensure global consistency where beneficial.
  • Facilitate cross-team communication and dissemination of critical information to regional/local Rufus teams.
  • Ensure connectivity within Rufus, Initiative and MAGNA to facilitate learning and access to information.
  • Collaborate with clients and Rufus leadership to align to topics for investment-based POVs and thought leaderships pieces; work with the Regional Investment Leads to develop.
  • Partner with Specialized Business Units (SBUs) to develop innovative investment strategies that address client needs and drive value for Amazon and Initiative.
  • Deliver ad-hoc investment requests.

GOALS:

  • Establish a consistent and cohesive approach to investment globally (allowing for necessary variation by region while ensuring differences are pressure-tested and supported with rationale).
  • Identify and build relationships with Global/Regional Client Leads and Rufus Investment Leads across NA, EMEA, LATAM and APAC. Understand team structure and nuance of Investment team approach in each region.
  • Explore and/or develop 2-3 strategic partnerships annually.
  • Facilitate self-education through industry events, cross-training and regular consumption and dialogue around industry news and developments.
