nn nn nn nn Location nn nnLos Angeles, CAnn nn n nn nn Position Overview nn nnThe Head of Finance will oversee process and infrastructure and have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all finance and accounting activities of the division.nn nn n nn nn Specific Responsibilities nn nn General nn Function as the local day to day contact and strategic partner for the division head and other divisional leaders Presentation to senior management and board of directors Support divisional department heads in managing and rolling up their department budgets Participate in key decisions for the division Provide parent company’s financial leadership with advice on the financial implications of business activities Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities Manage any third parties to which financial functions have been outsourced nn nn nn Financial Planning and Accounting nn Supervise all aspects of the general accounting and finance activities Provide the timely, accurate and compliant financial reporting including balance sheet, cash flow statements and income statements Design, direct and own the budget and forecast process including cash flow management Conduct ad hoc analysis and suggest enhancements in current processes Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting Work closely with colleagues in royalties, sync, copyright administration and A&R Prepare consolidated budget and forecast presentations for executive management nn nn nn Treasury nn Monitor cash balances Manage the capital request process Maintain banking relationships at the divisional level including management of company lines of credit nn nn nn Operations and administration nn Take a lead on migrating the division to the financial reporting system used by the parent company Implement finance and accounting operational best practices in the division Provide financial guidance on payroll, and spend on staffing and benefits Assist with employee benefit, expense reimbursement and other administrative policies as necessary nn nn nn Risk Management nn Understand and mitigate key elements of the division’s risk profile Construct and monitor reliable control systems Partner with senior management to maintain appropriate insurance coverage for the division Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies Development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
nn n nn nn Position Requirements nn nnIdeal candidates will have a track record in managing disciplined monthly or quarterly reporting, financial planning & analysis and process improvement.
Eligible candidates may have public accounting firm experience, before gaining experience in accounting, reporting and FPA roles at the divisional or corporate level in the music ecosystem.nn The senior financial executive should have a degree in accounting or finance and 7 or more years of progressively responsible experience leading finance and accounting departments Strong communication skills, with the ability to present to and advise senior management Ability to work autonomously and a willingness to liaise with colleagues across different time zones Interest in music and understanding of the unique needs of a growing music company Experience overseeing and improving a wide range of accounting processes and systems including Microsoft Dynamics and Jet Reporting Experience with system migrations a plus Experience and/or knowledge of public accounting or capital markets; NASDAQ, FTSE Ability to function as a sounding board who works comfortably in a matrixed structure and across departmental and divisional structures Hands-on and resourceful problem solver with the ability to work autonomously Strong project management and execution capability, proactive with deadlines and deliverables Highest integrity, work ethic and trustworthiness Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA license or equivalent.
