The best women’s hospital in Los Angeles is looking for current RN candidates to staff Operating Room, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby care units to be housed in our expanding new patient tower facility scheduled to open next year. Position Summary:

Duties:

Verbalizes and/or demonstrates knowledge of clinical information and practices essential to assuring provision of age-specific care to infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, staff meetings, inservices/workshops and successful completion and maintenance of required certifications.
Demonstrates the ability to determine accuracy of pertinent medical eligibility authorizations, demographic and financial information, institutes any required corrections and notifies the appropriate departments.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and complete assigned duties within a timely manner.
Obtains insurance coverage, eligibility and authorizations (if required) via telephone call and/or available software programs within twenty-four hours of admission, and subsequently at the beginning of each month the patient remains in the hospital.
Determines patient liability (partial or total), and makes a concerted effort to collect these amounts while the patient is in-house.
Identifies individuals who do not have the ability to pay for services rendered, initiates efforts to qualify them for programs they may be eligible for (i.e. Medi-Cal, Victims of Crime, Charity, etc.) and frequently follows-up to insure compliance.
Updates computer system to reflect activities performed and all interactions with

the patient, family, doctors, insurance carriers, and any other resolution of the account.
Reviews files on a daily basis to insure that all required documentation is included and forwards discharged folders to the billing department within 24 hours of discharge.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of roles during emergency/disaster situation.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of department equipment and proper usage.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound, productive, and ethical decisions in the performance of assigned duties.
Maintains confidentiality of department and medical center information.
Exhibits appropriate telephone/fax/beeper protocol, i.e. answers promptly, identifies name and department and is courteous and helpful, and has knowledge of commonly used extensions.
Incorporates medical center’s mission of “quality care with compassion and respect” into daily performance of job functions.
Requirements:

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications:

Three or more years of financial counseling experience in a hospital setting
Knowledge of medical terminology and payer requirements as well as state and federal regulations
Ability to communicate in English and understand verbal and written instructions.
Excellent bilingual and communications skills
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Must be able to work in a union environment.
