Financial Coach

1736 Family Crisis Center offers crisis intervention services, including four 24
– hour hotlines, as well as longer-term services in client advocacy and outpatient psychotherapy.

The residential counseling and support services include shelter programs for (1) runaway and homeless adolescents, (2) domestic violence and human trafficking victims and their children (emergency and transitional programs (3) Homeless prevention and rapid re-housing services for the general population and Veterans and their families.

Community outreach programs are provided to educate the public and prevent mental-health problems in the general population and in targeted groups to at-risk populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop with the FSC clients, mutually agreed upon family goals and dreams.

Build the families’ knowledge, skills and access to products and services around five pillars of financial security: l) assets
– assist families in building assets by working with them to create and implement plans for consistent savings, 2) banking connect families to low-cost banking services, 3) credit
– assist families in boosting credit scores by addressing negative information on credit reports and helping them build a solid credit history, 4) debt assist families in reducing their debt through budgeting and financial planning; and 5) taxes assist families with free tax preparation services to ensure families receive local and federal tax credits as well as encouraging them to save a portion of their refund for long-term goals.

Provide and coordinate financial education workshops, which includes: preparation, speaker/partner coordination, coordination with sites, room set-up, class facilitation, program evaluation, and follow up with clients.

Works with the team to continuously improve curriculum design and delivery utilizing participants’ feedback, self-evaluation, and by staying current on best-and promising practices in the field.

Provides individual financial coaching to clients to help clients meet their individual financial goals.

Maintain complete and accurate client files.

Collect and compile client data for program assessment and evaluation purposes and incorporate client success stories and anecdotes into program reports.

Network, outreach, and maintain relationships with program staff, financial institutions and other social service providers to exchange referrals.

Maintain and document financial coaching activities in accordance with agency and funder guidelines and procedures.

Collect data and participate in evaluation and quality assurance activities.

Conduct community presentations and assist with trainings and meetings.

Prepare and submit program reports to supervisor on a monthly basis.

Attend and actively participate in team meetings, in-service trainings, staff development meetings, and all required meetings and trainings.

Participate in the FamilySource performance excellence initiative.

Participate in the planning and coordination of yearly events for families.

EDUCATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or Business related field
Financial Coaching Certificate highly preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and experience with educational and asset building programs and available resources.

Creative problem solver and ability to take initiative.
Excellent work ethic and ability to work under pressure, address multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to maintain appropriate, professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to complete high quality and timely documentation.
Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills.
Culturally competent in working with the public and individuals with various cultural and economic backgrounds and abilities.
Friendly, dependable and flexible team player.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Bi-Lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
