The Commission Manager Role will play a key role in the finance function for one of our growth business units within Health Solutions at Alight.
This role provides support to the sales leader and finance leader and is responsible for deal modeling, profitability reviews, and client health analysis for our Alight Benefits Guidance business.
This is a Manager level role, reporting to the Director, Health Solutions Finance.
The role will be based Virtual.
Less than 5% travel is expected.
Key responsibilities include: Sales deal modeling for commission and fee-based clients; both new clients and renewals.
This includes working closely with sales executives, operations and business finance to validate assumptions and compare to historical levels, especially as it relates to commission streams generated by voluntary benefit enrollments that are performed Carrier funding review and verification of commission rates and splits by client and carrier, including validating rates are in line with agreements Create an efficient financial stewardship reporting process to help monitor individual case funding performance across the client and carrier block.
Build client-facing templates/communications for use by the client delivery teams to better maintain accurate views on client funding health.
Annual Enrollment project tracking which would include providing finance team members with contracts, funding, split agreements, rates, and anything else required to complete client billing or revenue entries Review and research carrier adjustments and work with carriers on these adjustments to ensure timely recognition Identify impacts to commission funded projects when client terminates or changes carriers If contract allows for collection for services not fully funded by commissions, perform a true-up calculation, and provide outputs to Client Management and submit for billing Verify payments from carrier at correct commission rate and split.
Review cash commission streams to identify instances where commissions are ending earlier than expected or if there is conversion of policies to another broker or carrier Research and troubleshoot commission payment adjustments from carrier Partner with other members on the finance team to ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue submissions, validity/collectability of recorded assets, and assisting with carrier payment receipt reconciliation to client project receivables Requirements include: Bachelor’s Degree required 6-10 years relevant finance experience, with history of strong performance Experience working in the insurance industry and with carrier commissions is a plus Strong capability across Microsoft products, notably Excel and PowerPoint Strong financial acumen, with critical eye and attention to detail Experience building, maintaining, and enhancing complex financial models Ability to work with large amounts of data and summarize into concise presentation Ability to prioritize individual and team activities in time-sensitive environment Ability to influence, work collaboratively, and build relationships Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Analytical and inquisitive mentality Workday and Adaptive Insights experience preferred, but not required By applying for a position with Alight, you understand that, should you be made an offer, it will be contingent on your undergoing and successfully completing a background check consistent with Alight’s employment policies.
