As the Finance Director for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, your experience and expertise will be critical to the development and implementation of the department’s short- and long-range plans and direction. You will oversee an annual budget of +$120M, provide decision support and financial analysis while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. This will involve managing all fund groups within the department, including Clinical Revenue, Contracts and Grants, Sales and Service, Gifts and Endowments, and Other Funds. As the Finance Director, you will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.
Primary duties include:
•Manage and lead a team of five, providing clear direction, support and expectations
•Monitor Sales and Service P&L statements and conducting fee schedule revisions
•Oversee the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance/trend analyses
•Develop key performance indicators
•Perform complex ad-hoc reporting and analysis
•Oversee maintenance of asset records for capital equipment
•Direct the preparation of regular reporting of all financial activity
•Implement/maintain effective processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
•Consult with faculty and staff on internal controls and risk management
•Execute internal control programs
•Interpret complex university and government policies
•Monitor philanthropic funds to ensure spend is in accordance with donor intent
We’re seeking a self-directed, collaborative team player with:
•Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; advanced degree highly desirable
•5+ years of financial management experience
•Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
•Prior experience in an academic healthcare setting preferred
•In-depth knowledge of financial and accounting concepts
•Expertise in fund accounting and performance metrics of research-intensive health systems desirable
•Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
•Experience in Tableau preferred
•Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
•Proven success as an effective team leader and supervisor is highly desirable
