Practice Area Profile BCG is supporting the world’s largest principal investors & private equity (PIPE) firms with the full spectrum of services covering the entire value chain from transaction services to transformative profit improvement programs for portfolio companies to strategy and operations work for the funds themselves. We are organized into six distinct sectors: Private Equity, Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs), Pension Funds, Hedge Funds, Family Offices and Infrastructure & Real Estate. What You’ll Do We are looking for a Project Leader consultant within our Tech Capital group to help our private equity clients assess investments and deploy strategies that maximize growth, transform business models and create sustainable competitive advantage. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in private equity – either with a firm or in management consulting – and deep experience in the technology / software space. WHAT YOU’LL DO Our private equity clients are increasingly looking at software investments to drive meaningful returns. As software and technology become more and more important, these investors turn to BCG for our deep expertise within the space. As part of the Tech Capital team, you will help develop and refine BCG perspectives on drivers of software investment value and help BCG teams assess commercial prospects of potential investments. You will have two primary roles: Contribute to active casework: Guide teams as they assess commercial prospects of potential software investments Serve as a thought partner on the key drivers of SW investment value Advise teams on value creation and commercial diligence engagements, serving as a critical base of content expertise to accelerate team engagements Grow the Tech Capital practice: Generate IP and other thought leadership on the software investment landscape Serve as a thought partner and topic expert across software investment space, helping with business development efforts Develop frameworks, rubrics, and research approaches to accelerate case team execution Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT) The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG’s most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG’s thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting. What You’ll Bring (Experience & Qualifications) 3 years of post-graduate school consulting experience working with private equity firms, software investing experience in a VC / PE / equity research context Deep software content expertise (either across broad software categories or within specific sub-verticals) Strong organizational skills and an analytic mindset. Must be able to understand and employ a variety of analytical tools to study markets and market segments, develop frameworks and hypotheses, quantify strategic options, and assess their effectiveness. Expert communication and presentation skills. Ability to synthesize their team’s work into recommendations for presentation to clients and deliver oral and written reports to client management.
