Director of Finance and Administration

The mission of the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable individuals and communities, advance social and economic justice, and eradicate pressing societal problems in complex and culturally diverse urban environments throughout Southern California, the nation and the world.

Serving a population of over 400 employees that are located across the country, the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, is seeking a Director of Finance and Administration that is dependable, has a strong a work ethic, and excellent fiscal and analytical skills to join our team.

This position is housed at the University Park Campus in Los Angeles.

The position will work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students that all support various programs, such as the Masters in Social Work Program, Virtual Academic Center, Nursing Program, Doctorate in Social Work Program, and PhD Program, all of which serve a population of over 2,500 students.

This position will also work with our research administration staff and other project staff that make up the Research Administration Center.

The ideal individual will work with various university offices as well as internal and external auditors.

Accountabilities include, but not limited to:
Manages business functions and operations Oversees accounting and financial operations Oversees Human Resources & Payroll, Facilities, Equipment Management and Information Technology Prepares financial reports and provides analysis to Dean, school leadership, and university leadership Develops annual budget, forecast and financial performance Manages school corporate card program Is able to interpret applicable laws, rules and regulations as well as financial policies and procedures Directly supervises professional business office staff and indirectly administrative staff Serves as Business Continuity and Emergency response team member Participates in strategic planning activities for the school Conducts short-term and long-term financial planning, including development of assumptions, projections and recommended strategies Monitors action plans, recommends and implements changes as needed Supervises the HR Manager, MIS Director, and Facilities Manager Other duties, as assigned
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree preferred or combined education/experience as a substitute for education Minimum of 7 years of experience Thorough knowledge of fund accounting and internal/external requirements.

University financial policies, procedures, systems, and use of computerized spreadsheets and databases.

Analytical and critical thinker A strong candidate will have strong fiscal management skills, customer service skills, be dependable, a self-starter, able to work both independently and with a team, in a fast paced and high volume work environment, with deadline pressures.

Ability to work with university offices, internal and external auditors.
