Director of Accounting & Operations

About the job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting & Operations to join our organization. The Director of Accounting & Operations will play a critical role in managing and overseeing all operational and financial activities of the company. This position requires a deep understanding of financial principles, logistics management, customer experience management, exceptional leadership abilities, and a strategic mindset. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing financial and operational strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate and timely operations and financial reports to support decision-making processes.

What you’ll be doing:

Operations & Financial Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement operational & financial strategies and plans to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Conduct financial analysis, risk assessment, and forecasting to identify potential opportunities and challenges.
Collaborate with executive management to develop long-term financial plans and budgets.
Logistics, Operations & Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Ensure compliance with all government, tax regulations, laws, and accounting standards, bank, and financial audits.
Monitor financial performance and provide regular updates to executive management and stakeholders.
Working closely with the account manager at warehouse and other 3rd parties and ensure that all 12th Tribe’s needs are being contractually met including performance audits, SLA reviews and similar.
Work closely with web developer and 3rd party app developers to ensure integrations are being supported by the back end of operations.
Work closely with Head of Marketing on calendar management and key launch dates and critical milestones.
Manage Returns Platform, tracking performance of Return Rate, Refunds, Instant Exchange, Instant Credit, Gift Card conversion. Perform analysis on what major skus are causing an uptick in returns and the reasons and report to team. Manage returns from sale to financial statements and ensure excellent reporting and program management.
Develop International shipping program options as the company continues to grow internationally
Ability to develop and lead DC expansion plans with 3PL and consider needs short-term and long-term
Team Management & Cross Functional Liaising
Directly manage CS team and Logistics team while project managing team output
Work closely with Buying Team to ensure product is received in a timely manner and correctly
Financial Operations:
Oversee Accounting Manager and day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury functions, and general ledger activities.
Implement and maintain robust financial and internal controls, policy, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
Streamline and automate financial processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including profitability analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and variance analysis.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate new business opportunities, investments, and acquisitions.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor a team of finance and accounting professionals, providing guidance, support and professional development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Promote continuous learning and stay updated on industry best practices, trends, and regulatory changes.

What you bring to the table:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, a must. A master’s degree and/or professional certification (MBA, CPA, CMA) highly desirable.
Proven 7+ years’ experience in a senior finance and operations role in a consumer products E-Commerce organization is a REQUIREMENT.
Strong knowledge of financial principles, operational principles, accounting standards, financial regulations, and risk management.
Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing and developing finance, operations and accounting teams.
Advanced proficiency in enterprise software and systems, including Shopify, QuickBooks, Advanced Excel, power BI…etc.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
