Director, Financial Services

Job Summary Strategic leader partnering on all strategic, commercial and financial aspects for Walgreens Financial Services, including payment solutions, gift cards, money services and other commercial financial services.

Responsible for credit, debit and payment service strategies including partnerships, commercial contracts, and new business models.

Manages the P&L for current financial services and partners with Walgreens Retail Commercial leaders to deliver in-year revenue, profit and cash flow goals.

Revenue and earnings is expected to grow significantly due to new payment card solutions launched.

This will include the responsibility for co-brand credit cards and general-purpose reloadable cards.

Partners with internal stakeholders to develop new financial service and payment solutions focusing on digital technology, product development, strategic partnerships, and investments.

Responsible for contributing to short and long-term strategic plans to include unlocking significant new revenue and profit streams for Walgreens through innovative and differentiated financial service offering and products.

Leads a direct commercial and finance team to collaborate and develop comprehensive products and solutions with Marketing, IT, Treasury, Procurement, Digital, Retail and Finance.

Reports to VP of Financial Services.

Engages directly with Divisional key stakeholders to continuously transform Walgreens Financial Services.

Job Responsibilities Develops strategic roadmap, financials, and execution plan for all Financial Services including gift cards, general purpose reloadable cards, money services, and cobranded credit cards.

Leads in the design and development of innovative payments products that align with organization Financial Services strategies that are simple/easy to use and that are market parity or better with industry available options.

Gathers data and insights and conduct analysis of advanced complexity that inform product strategy and development.

Develops and advocates for an informed perspective for what the product experience should be and how to get there.

Responsible for contributing to the full P/L management for financial services and gift cards.

Develops and leads the Customer value proposition related to Financial Services, development for Walgreens.

Serve as the primary point of contact for all financial services partnership discussions and strategies.

Ensures strong control and compliance environment specifically focused on money services.

Develops plans to pro-actively manage industry and governmental trends.

Identifies new business opportunities to expand revenue and profit.

Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, quantitative analysis or economics, OR High School Diploma/GED and at least 9 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, quantitative analysis or economics.

At least 5 years’ experience in product development, marketing, payment card solutions, treasury and / or financial services.

At least 3 years’ experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.

Experience developing and delivering presentations intended to influence and change behavior to various audience levels internal and external to an organization.

Experience operating the financial services business/products for a retail organization.

At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.

At least 3 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.

Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within country and internationally).

Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics.

Card payments industry experience including managing cobranded credit cards, debit card, or other card programs.

Delivers results through personal leadership, drive and building world-class teams.

Cultural and organizational agility.

Leadership experience in budgeting, forecasting, planning, and financial model development processes.
