THE ROLE
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis ( FP&A ) is responsible for providing insightful, useful, and actionable financial and operational analysis for the entire organization. This role will work cross-functionally and supports growth, strategic initiatives, and capital investments. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and processes and will manage the budgeting, forecasting and planning processes, provide financial analysis around studio/production economics, KPI development and management and materials for our Board of Directors. This role will report up to the EVP, Head of Finance and Operations.

We are looking for an exceptional individual with strong intellectual, critical thinking, decision making, team leadership, humility, honesty and analytical and financial skills. Ideally you will have spent a portion of your career in a financial role supporting Corporate or centralized-support departments, preferably in the media and entertainment industry.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own company-level forecasting, annual operating plan and reporting, including cash and commitment detail and understanding variance to plan. Lead the refinement and maintenance of HARTBEAT s budget and rolling models
  • Evaluate performance and forecast funding needs on a regular basis; identify opportunities to increase revenues, drive down costs, and use funds more effectively
  • Review and analyze ultimates for FILM and TV, including those with co-production financing arrangements
  • Implement new processes and systems to enable better visibility in forecasting, modeling and reporting with a focus on scale
  • Analyze current and historical trends in key performance indicators ( KPIs ); highlight trends and analyze causes of variances and risks; develop and present recommendations and opportunities to executives and divisional heads
  • Review long-term company financial metric model, sensitivity analysis & scenario cases for strategic planning with various cohort model, Retention, Acquisition Cost, Content Viewership, etc.
  • Drive optimization of existing web-based FP&A tools by facilitating company-wide integration and adoption
  • Support the accounting team on monthly financial close preparation in the analysis of key financial reporting metrics
  • Lead, with Executive team members, the preparation and presentation of key stakeholder communications including Board of Director presentations, investor communications, Executive Leadership Team proposals, and other financial communications
  • Support in the presentation of our monthly and quarterly financials to Senior Leadership and provide key insights to drive operational and financial excellence
  • Review asset valuation and impairment analysis with accounting & drive the production greenlight process with close coordination with all teams
  • Engage with necessary team members to understand market conditions and determine trends to enhance business models
  • Collaborate and work with key stakeholders preparing financial and business models to support deal negotiations and acquisitions
  • Support in M&A activities from finance side (i.e., due diligence, business plan evaluations and related analysis)

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor s degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Minimum 7 years of FP&A / Finance experience; Entertainment Industry / Media experience required
  • Previous responsibility working at an Investment Firm or Private Equity with funding and M&A experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and related compliance and regulatory standards
  • Experience consolidating financial results and management reporting across multiple departments/orgs or at an enterprise-level preferred
  • Management experience, including managing, developing and leading staff
  • In-depth experience with enterprise planning systems (e.g., Netsuite, etc.)
  • Expert Excel and Financial modeling, analysis and reporting skills required
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills especially with non-Finance individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and executive meeting presence, and can communicate effectively with senior operational and financial management
  • Comfortable with fast-paced and dynamic environments, self-driven prioritization. Solid interpersonal skills and work ethic
