The Job

WarnerMedia seeks a Director, Financial Analysis for the Sales & Distribution FP&A department.

The Daily

As a part of Warner Media’s Sales & Distribution FP&A team the Director will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Financial Analysis:
    • Coordinate across all areas of Sales & Distribution and Warner Media Corp – partnering with finance and accounting teams across advertising revenue, affiliate revenue and content sales – to drive recurring budgeting and forecasting updates, as well as ad hoc strategic projects
    • Develop innovative analyses that measure financial and operational performance in ways not captured on basic financial statements
    • Understand the key drivers of Warner Media’s business — focused on advertising revenue, affiliate revenue and content sales — analyzing and summarizing the latest monthly financial outlook and long-term budgeting/planning exercises for communication with executives
    • Oversee the preparation of detailed historical and projection models for Warner Media, reviewing and checking all work from financial managers and analysts before it is finalized
    • Manage a staff, coordinating projects and deadlines, coaching team members and promoting best practices
  • Competitive & Market Analysis:
    • Routinely analyze the financial outlook for Warner Media’s domestic competitors
    • Track macroeconomic and competitive data
    • Regularly summarize media industry trends and news
  • Analysis of New Initiatives:
    • Prepare financial analyses, business plans and detailed operating models associated with new initiatives, highlighting the P&L impact to Warner Media, returns/sensitivity analyses and cash flow models
    • Coordinate with Warner Media divisions and business units on transactions and business initiatives (including operations, finance, accounting, tax, legal, and investor relations)
  • Other:
    • Coordinate ad hoc analyses for executives
    • Help draft board memos, ops review and other presentations to senior management as part of strategic reviews, new initiatives and budgeting processes
    • May manage Sales & Distribution Central groups from a finance support function

The Essentials

  • BA/BS degree minimum (MBA a plus), preferably with a focus on Finance, Engineering, Accounting or Economics
  • [8+] years of relevant work experience including financial modeling, research gathering, consolidations, and support of executive teams
  • Superior analytical, modeling and executive management presentation skills, as well as a strong understanding of corporate finance, forecasting, and financial statements
  • Excellent organizational, communication skills and attention to detail, including the ability to give presentations to senior leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated success leading high-performing, cross-divisional teams, as interaction and cooperation with many groups and functions across Sales & Distribution and Warner Media is essential
  • Highly motivated with ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Preference for a knowledge of and passion for entertainment and media
