Director, Finance Operations

Primary Responsibility / Summary

The Director, Financial Operations role works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other senior executives in developing financial policies and procedures, implementing strategies and leading collaborative efforts to help the organization meet the operation and financial goals set by the executive team and the Company’s Board-approved Strategic Plan.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Leads, manages, and direct key initiatives, programs or priorities as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or other senior executives to deliver on defined goals and implementation deliverables.
  2. Oversees the development of financial policies, standard operating procedures, systems and processes that ensure consistency across all departments within GSC.
  3. Works closely with GSC Finance, Grants & Contracts and WCD to maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.
  4. Partners with the Director of Finance & Business Strategy in the implementation of new finance software.
  5. Partners with other executive staff to direct effective reporting processes to continuously monitor, adjust and achieve progress against operational goals.
  6. Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions that will improve day-to-day financial operations.
  7. Provides guidance and support for senior leadership in the development of specific strategies, tactics, and tasks that align with the mission, vision, and core values, and promote capacity building.
  8. Directs, creates, and delivers training material/content in areas identified by executive team.
  9. Keeps current and recommends technology to further objectives of GSC team members in their roles to support GSC’s mission

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years leadership role in operations with non-profit management experience.
  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting and the inner workings of federal/state/county/city contract and grant programs.
  • Project management experience with on-time; on-budget results.
  • Knowledge of various statutory and regulatory requirements related to program operations.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational process for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Experience with budget and business plan development preferred.
  • Experience creating and delivering board presentations.
